WARWICK, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 31, 2023--
“Housing and dining facilities are critical components of Soldiers’ experienced quality of life,” according to the current U.S. Army Installations Strategy. Recognizing the need for safe, healthy, efficient, and resilient places to live, Corvias presented Military Times with a first-hand look at its single- and unaccompanied soldier housing at Fort Meade, Maryland. Called “Reece Crossings,” this first-of-its-kind garden-style (maximum 4 stories) apartment complex was developed for the Army and consistently highly reviewed by service members.

“A major initiative for the Army is to attract, retain, and take care of its people,” said Ryan Kleinau, Senior Vice President, New Development, for Corvias. “Quality housing, especially for single- and unaccompanied soldiers, supports talent recruitment and retention, enhances the living experience for service members, and supports overall resiliency and readiness goals.”
Currently, housing needs outpace availability and budget. In such cases, a partnership, like the one at Fort Meade, may be replicated and solve for needs at other installations.
Rated “Outstanding,” Consistently in Demand
Privatized apartments have been built on military installations and have been proven to be successful. Helping to fill the demand, military apartments provide an alternative for unaccompanied soldiers, geo-bachelors, or those on temporary duty. Additionally, privatized apartments, like the ones at Reece Crossings, provide competitive rates, and include robust amenities, short-term lease options, and utilities and cable.
“We understand that deployments and relocations can be financially straining for service members,” said Kleinau. “To provide greater value to our Army partners and service members, we design housing communities that aim to take the worry out of housing needs so that service members can focus on the mission at hand.”
Today, at almost full occupancy, Reece Crossings boasts a near perfect resident satisfaction rating. On the 2022 annual Department of Defense Tenant Satisfaction survey, Reece Crossings received an overall satisfaction score of 77% for leasing services, nearly 80% rating for property satisfaction, and 75% for overall maintenance services.
Corvias’ Randolph Pointe, a 312-unit apartment community at Fort Liberty in North Carolina, supports the military's mission and the well-being of its personnel. On the same survey, this community received outstanding scores – 92.8% for their leasing and maintenance services, 91.1% for property satisfaction, and received the highest score with a 93.3% rating for quality maintenance services.
“These satisfaction scores further exemplify the need for creative solutions, like apartments, to provide an unparalleled living experience for service members,” said Kleinau.
