WASHINGTON, DC: Mick Jagger is finally embracing his old age by allowing AARP, America's biggest organization dedicated to "enhancing the quality of life for older adults," to sponsor the Rolling Stones' upcoming tour, reported Daily Mail.
Mick Jagger, 80, Keith Richards, 79, and Ronnie Wood, 76, announced the rock bands' 16-city North American tour '24 Hackney Diamonds, sponsored by AARP, set to kick off on April 28, 2024, in Houston, marking the 60th anniversary of the Stones' first US tour in 1964.
The tour will feature the band's classic hits and music from their new album 'Hackney Diamonds'.
General public ticket sales start on December 1 at 10 am local time. Meanwhile, AARP members can enjoy a presale starting on November 29.
Who is the founder of AARP?
A retired teacher, Ethel Percy Andrus, founded AARP in 1958 to improve life and expand opportunities for older Americans. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the organization offers membership to all persons aged 50 or above, whether working or retired.
According to the AARP website, it is the "nation's largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering Americans 50 and older to choose how they live as they age." It has nearly 38 million members.
The nonprofit organization is also excitedly looking forward to working with the elite band. "The Rolling Stones are an iconic band and brand, beloved across many generations. At AARP, we are always excited to reach new people and offer unique benefits to members, such as this special 2024 tour presale," said Paola Groom, director of AARP external relations, per Morningstar.
Mick Jagger rebelled against aging
Jagger, the Rolling Stones frontman, had difficulty embracing his old age, said a source to the Daily Mail.
The source said, "Mick has always rebelled against aging but everyone has embraced AARP sponsoring the upcoming tour. It's a deal worth millions but it has also made everyone smile."
"The AARP logo is front and centre on all the advertising. Mick is finally ready to embrace the fact he's a pensioner. In fact he's proud of it," the source added.
Jagger is conscious of his health. He exercises an hour daily and rarely consumes alcohol. So far, he has had only one major health crisis- a heart valve replacement in 2019.
