LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Adele is being candid about the less glitzy side of the entertainment industry. The 35-year-old singer revealed during her 'Weekends With Adele' residency in Las Vegas at the Caesars Palace Colosseum that her doctor had informed her she had the fungal infection as a result of perspiration in her Spanx from playing under bright lights every night. The singer admitted to the audience that the Spanx she often wears onstage makes her clammy.

"Me and my team were talking about it earlier. Obviously when I do my shows I wear Spanx to keep it all in and make it all fit me," Adele said during the performance. "And I sweat a lot and it doesn’t go anywhere. So basically I just sit in my own sweat. And my doctor gave me Jock Itch [cream]."

'I’m a big Nuggets fan'

Adele, who is presently dating NBA agent, Rich Paul, made fun of the similarity between the term "jock itch" and Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic, whose last name is pronounced identically. She laughed and said, "Sounds like I am a big Nuggets fan there, doesn’t it?" She added, "It looks like I am an athlete so I have to squirt [the cream] on myself. I don’t know why the f*** I just told you that." The 'Hello' singer further quipped, "Adele's got body acne!"

Adele announced in March that she will add 34 more gigs to the residency and film the performance. She is now scheduled to perform at Caesars Palace till November 4. The English singer-songwriter stated that she plans to record the performance and make it available online "to make sure that anyone who wants to see this show can see it."

What is jock itch?

According to the Mayo Clinic, jock itch, also known as tinea cruris, is a fungal infection of the skin that affects warm, moist areas, most frequently the groin, buttocks, and inner thighs. Athletes and those who perspire a lot are more likely to have the condition.

Adele's previous health issues

Adele has previously discussed her health problems during residency performances. Adele announced in February that she has been performing with a ruptured disc in her spine. The Oscar winner has suffered from back discomfort for almost 20 years. "Is anyone else kind of my age starting getting bad knees? I have got really bad sciatica in my left leg and my L5 disc is not f–king there anymore. It’s worn away," Adele remarked as per Evening Standard.

The 'Someone Like You' singer revealed during her New Year's Eve performance that she had to "waddle" because of her persistent back discomfort. In a video obtained by the Daily Star, Adele said, "I’ve just got to get over to the other side of the stage. I have to waddle these days as I have really bad sciatica." According to the Mayo Clinic, sciatica is an acute, shooting pain that often results from a compressed vertebral nerve and travels from the lower back down the side or back of the leg.

'Gotta love Adele'

Fans immediately rejoiced at the singer's candid confession onstage and took to social media to share their opinions. One fan wrote, "Lmfao excuse for being a lady of the night." A second fan wrote, "Gotta love Adele. She keeps it real." A third fan quipped, "Oh yeah. It's the Spanx, sweat, and hot lights." Another fan wrote, "Between the heat, sweat, and performing for hours with little bathroom breaks, yes, it sounds plausible!" Someone else wrote, "She’s human. Meh. It’s normal and treatable. What’s the big deal? People are so squeamish."
