Besiktas have announced the signing of former Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a three-year deal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain spent six seasons with the Reds, playing 146 in a spell generally hindered by a number of different injury concerns - missing out on 88 matchday squads as a result.

Despite a general lack of game time in his final few years at Anfield - making just nine Premier League appearances during the 2022/23 campaign - Oxlade-Chamberlain left as a free agent having played some part in the Reds' Premier League, UEFA Champions League, EFL Cup and FIFA Club World Cup triumphs under Jurgen Klopp.

Super Lig club Besiktas have now confirmed they've won the race to sign the free agent in a statement released on their club website. The club have confirmed that Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed a deal which will run until the end of the 2025/26 season, and will earn €2.5m-per-year and an extra €10,000 for every appearance made.

On top of that, the club also confirmed that Oxlade-Chamberlain has been given a €1.5m signing on fee.

The Super Lig club, who can usually be found playing in the group stages of the Champions League, already holding a healthy 3-1 advantage heading into the game.

Liverpool have undergone a dramatic midfield makeover this summer, with Oxlade-Chamberlain one of a number of players to leave the club. Naby Keita and James Milner left on free transfers, and they've been followed out of the door by Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, both of whom have headed to the riches of Saudi Arabia.

Roberto Firmino is also plying his trade in the Middle East after signing for Al Ahli - they've subsequently completed deals for Allan Saint-Maximin, Riyad Mahrez, Edouard Mendy and Franck Kessie.
