Real Madrid have confirmed summer signing Arda Guler has left their pre-season touring party in the United States to return to Spain due to a knee injury.
Young Turkey international Guler joined Los Blancos from Fenerbahce earlier this summer and impressed during his first training sessions under Carlo Ancelotti.
However, Guler has not featured in either of Real's summer friendly wins so far this month against AC Milan and Manchester United and the Spanish giants have now confirmed he has been sent home for further diagnosis.
A statement from Real reads: "Following tests carried out on our new signing Arda Guler, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the internal meniscus of his right knee. The player will be transferred to Madrid in the next few hours to continue with a specific course of treatment."
The knock means Guler will not feature in the stateside Clasico against Barcelona and likely not Real's final friendly against Juventus before the domestic season starts.
18-year-old Guler, who scored nine senior goals for Fenerbahce in two seasons, quickly asserted his ambition of featuring in the first team upon signing for Real earlier this summer.
However, he may have to wait until mid August at the earliest to make his Blancos debut. Real visit Athletic Club, Almeria and Celta Vigo in three consecutive league away days to open the new campaign before hosting Getafe at the start of September.
