LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Variety's 'Actors on Actors' series is back with the top stars in this 2023 Oscar race for Season 19, featuring MCU reunions, Barbenheimer, and more.
One lineup, in particular, puts "Barbenheimer" back in the lead role, featuring Cillian Murphy from 'Oppenheimer' and Margot Robbie from 'Barbie.'
'Variety Studio: Actors on Actors' was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2023 and won one in 2019. The show is produced by PBS SoCal in collaboration with Variety Media, LLC, as per Variety.
Variety's 'Actors on Actors' lineup
There are a handful of prominent actors present this year, including those from 'Barbie,' 'Oppenheimer,' and the MCU.
The particular lineup featuring Robbie ('Barbie') and Murphy ('Oppenheimer') reminds the viewers of the summer when "Barbenheimer" was the center of a massive Internet movie controversy.
Both movies gained success and maintained their popularity owing to the social media content. There was a choice as to which of the two films to see in theaters first because they were released at roughly the same time.
The MCU cast will be on 'Actors on Actors' alongside Barbenheimer, featuring Robert Downey Jr and Mark Ruffalo.
Other 'Actors on Actors' lineups include Halle Bailey and Rachel Zegler; Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway; Emma Stone and Bradley Cooper; Natalie Portman and Paul Mescal; Alden Ehrenreich and Da’Vine Joy Randolph; Colman Domingo and Jacob Elordi.
The lineup continues to: Carey Mulligan and Michael Fassbender; Jeffrey Wright and Taraji P Henson; Annette Bening and Julianne Moore; and Greta Lee and Andrew Scott.
The four programs will have their premiere on PBS SoCal on January 11 from 8 to 10 p.m.; they will then be repeated on WORLD Channel, KCET, and public television stations around the nation.
The 'Actors on Actors' issue will be available on newsstands on December 6; beginning on Monday, December 4.
