Inter have agreed a transfer fee with Bayern Munich over the proposed signing of 2018 World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard, 90min understands.
Pavard is keen to leave Bayern for a new challenge after four years in Munich and Manchester United were keen on the Frenchman due to his ability to play as both a centre-back and right-back.
As 90min has previously reported, Pavard’s name has appeared on an extensive list of centre-back options at Old Trafford alongside Jean-Clair Todibo, Perr Schuurs, Jarrad Branthwaite and others.
Talks were opened with Bayern over Pavard earlier this month, although there was around a £4m difference in valuation, with United willing to offer £26m and the German champions asking £30m.
It then became apparent that Bayern had raised the price to £34.5m plus add-ons. Meanwhile, Harry Maguire’s proposed £30m departure to West Ham also collapsed.

But with United knocked out of the race due to not being able to free up the space in their squad and wage bill, Bayern have instead provisionally agreed to sell to Inter.
90min understands that the proposed fee stands at €33m (£28m), which is substantially less than Bayern had been asking of Manchester United only a week ago.
However, Bayern have stressed that completion of Pavard’s switch to Inter remains dependent on them securing a replacement. The player himself is hoping things will be wrapped up this week.
