As PCGamesN reports, Bethesda released a new, free add-on pack for Doom and Doom II this week. It consists of a 27-map expansion pack called Base Ganymede, which offers both single-player and co-op multiplayer. You can watch the first level of Base Ganymede being played in the video below:

The expansion pack isn't new, having originally been developed by Australian level designer and musiciain Adam Woodmansey, also known as Khorus. Base Ganymede consists of three sets of nine levels called Episode 1, Episode 2, and Episode 3. Woodmansey originally released Episode 1 in Nov. 2009, Episode 2 in Nov. 2010, and completed the set with Episode 3 in Jan. 2012.

The expansion was well-received on release, counts as one of the best fan-made packs, and managed to win the 2012 Cacowards on Doomworld.

Bethesda curated, sanctioned, and released the complete Base Ganymede experience yesterday as an official add-on pack available from the add-on menu in either the Doom or Doom II re-release. There's also a soundtrack for the expansion which was composed by another Doom level designer and musician known as Mr. Freeze.
