Brewers attempt to troll Elly De La Cruz backfires 456 feet

The Milwaukee Brewers tried to troll Elly De La Cruz on Monday, but they ended up on the wrong side of a viral trash talk fail.

As the game of baseball has progressed and the younger generation has taken over, trash talk has begun to become one of the more normal things in the game. More often than not, it's just some lighthearted banter between the players or teams, with no true hatred backing it up.

This can't always be the case though, as Pete Alonso knows all too well about the negativity that can be brought on by ill-advised trash talk.

The Milwaukee Brewers scoreboard operator joins the list of people who have had trash talk thrown back in their face in the best of ways.

Elly De La Cruz responds to Brewers troll job in the best way possible

Leading off the first game of a three-game division set on Monday, the Reds star Elly De La Cruz smashed a pitch to deep center field. The Brewers centerfielder, Joey Weimer made a spectacular play, leaping at the fence and making a home run saving catch.

When Elly made his way to the plate in the third inning, Milwaukee responded with a bit of a jab at the rookie. Their scoreboard read "Almost hit a home run in the first inning… but didn't."

Elly is no stranger to responding with his bat. A few weeks ago, the Nationals manager had issues with a knob on the end of his handle. How did Elly respond? A home run and a serious pimp job.

So, with Elly coming to the plate and this obvious troll attempt flashed on the scoreboard, we all understood what was going to happen, right? Elly responded with a 456-foot home run out of the Brewers stadium, followed by an emphatic bat flip as he gave the Reds the lead.

Obviously, the baseball Gods don't take a liking to these troll attempts and the Reds rookie superstar doesn't either. Maybe think twice before disrespecting the baseball Gods or Elly De La Cruz in the future.
