'Categories are getting worse': 'Jeopardy!’ producers slammed for introducing 'most risque category title’ and tricky questions

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Jeopardy!’ is being brutally slammed by its fans over several issues ranging from the rudeness of the host to the introduction of a new category with an NSFW name. Recently, the gameshow presented a new category to its contestants and titled it ‘S-Less Chaps’, which fans called a ‘hilarious title’.

On Wednesday, June 7, during a broadcast of 'Jeopardy!', the weekly trivia game show faced heavy backlash from fans for introducing a tricky new category with an NSFW name. Hosted by Mayim Bialik, the category was first played by contestant Jared Watson, a quality control specialist from Greenville, Texas. Jared had already faced mockery earlier in the week for his disastrous responses to easy trivia questions. With the addition of the challenging 'S-Less Chaps' category, Jared struggled to answer many of the questions correctly. However, this time, he received support from 'Jeopardy!' fans, who found the title 'cheeky' and the category itself 'tricky'.

‘Awful, awful questions’

During a recent episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ host Mayim Bialik explained the rules of the new category contestants Jared Watson, Suresh Krishna, a networking engineer from Suwanee, Georgia, and Deborah Claymon, a writer from St Helena, California. She exclaimed, “Each response is two words, only one contains [the letter] S”. While Jared, the champion at the time, was the first contestant to play this category, he ended up answering many of the questions incorrectly. Apart from the tricky questions, the category title was also ridiculous. Many fans commented and referred the title to be a non-explicit version of ‘A**less Chaps’. The term refers to sturdy coverings for the leg that differ from trousers as they expose a person's a**. They are usually meant to protect the legs.

Many fans of ‘Jeopardy!’ found the new addition entertaining, while some brutally mocked the producers of the gameshow for debuting the most ‘NSFW’ title in the show’s history. Fans took to social media to express their frustration over the odd category as one Twitter user wrote, “Awful, awful questions. I really wouldn’t blame the contestants for that performance, I would blame the clue writers,” while another added, trolling the writers of the show, “The questions and categories are getting worse and worse. Can you fire all the writers and rehire reasonable people?” One more fan commented pointing at ex-co-host Alex Trebek, “Not sure that Alex would have approved of “S-less Chaps” as a Jeopardy category”.

Fans also slammed it for its innovative name and tricky questions as one fan commented, “S-less, chaps is a HILARIOUS name for a #Jeopardy category!”, while another added, “This category was tricky!” Another user gave a mixed viewpoint, stating, “"S-Less Chaps" is by far the most entertaining and most risque category title for Jeopardy I've seen in a long while”.

Viewers call out Mayim Bialik

Recently, ‘Jeopardy!’ fans have been calling out host Mayim Bialik for not paying attention to contestants’ answers. During Friday’s episode, Bialik completely disregarded a contestant’s final answer. Rather than reading the player Tim Hagood's illegible response, she ruled it out by saying, “What is: Sorry I can't read that.” The show's producers intervened and whispered the response in Bialik's ear.
