MAUI ISLANDS, HAWAII: The Hawaiian islands of Maui seem to be slowly limping back to normalcy after the devastating wildfires. While a number of areas undergo repair, the catastrophe has had a permanent effect on the islands and people.

Amidst all of the saddening news, 'CBS Mornings' host Tony Dokoupil shared a small story of positivity that would usually go unnoticed. The host has been covering the Maui wildfires and told his co-hosts about this incident.

'CBS Mornings' host Tony Dokoupil finds some unusual news

While reporting, Dokoupil stumbled upon two children on the islands who seemed to be facing a crisis of their own but one that could be easily resolved.

"There are of course a lot of big problems on Maui," Dokoupil started, adding, "But some of the problems here are small and they are fixable. And we encountered one of those yesterday."

The two children, Zane and Inaya, got their toy planes stuck in a huge tree and had no way of getting them out. "Their planes kept getting stuck in the tree and what you really need in a situation like that is a really long stick," Dokoupil said.

Soon an audio technician on Dokoupil's crew used his boom mic to help the children with getting their planes successfully out of the tree. "And the little boys are able to play on. Way to go Jack [the crew member]. You're our hero for the day!" Dokoupil said.
