The worry continues for Kansas City Chiefs fans. With the season opener against the Detroit Lions two days away, the Chiefs are ready to make a statement in their first action since winning the Super Bowl last winter.
However, the defense is set to be without a key piece. All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones has been away from the team as he waits to sign a monster extension. However, the two sides have failed to meet in the middle. Now, it's looking like things may not be settled in the near future.
The two sides of course want to get things done, but Ian Rapoport is reporting there's still a gap in talks. Per Rapoport, Jones is hoping to get close to what Aaron Donald is making, but it's up in the air how high the Chiefs will be willing to go.
Jones is one of the best players in the NFL and he's needed if Kansas City wants to repeat as champs. Only time will tell if something get get done soon, but KC supporters are quite concerned.
