MELBOURNE, VICTORIA: Australian actor Chris Hemsworth has reportedly shown interest in purchasing a new luxurious seaside residence in Victoria. The 39-year-old Hollywood superstar was spotted visiting the construction site of a new development in Port Melbourne's Beach Street.

The report states that the penthouse apartments within the elegant complex are valued at $18.5 million, according to The Herald Sun. Although Hemsworth, who already owns properties worth approximately $90 million in Byron Bay, New South Wales, has not yet acquired any of the available flats, they are priced at $2.7 million and above.

In search for the perfect pad

There are reports that former Socceroo Harry Kewell is also considering buying off-plan in the new development, which promises stunning ocean views upon completion. Situated only 5 kilometers from the central business district, the boutique complex features interiors designed by the stylish Australian designer Coco Republic. Each meticulously designed apartment will boast three-meter ceilings, a wine storage vault, and top-of-the-line appliances and fittings. The Herald Sun reports that Hemsworth has enlisted a representative to explore property options in Victoria.

The beloved heartthrob, who grew up on Victoria's Phillip Island, owns properties valued at close to $90 million, but none of them are in his home state. Hemsworth purchased his family home in Byron Bay for $7 million in 2014 and has since transformed it into a lavish compound valued between $30 million and $60 million.

Celebrity guest houses

The actor carried out extensive renovations on the six-bedroom residence, which now features a steam room, gym, media room, and games room. It also boasts a breathtaking outdoor living area, play zones for his three young children, and a 50-meter rooftop infinity pool with ocean views. In addition to their Byron Bay mansion, Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky, 46, own a horse ranch and retreat in Broken Head, which they purchased in 2019 for $4.25 million and is now estimated to be worth $10 million.

Spanning 35 hectares, the property includes state-of-the-art horse stables, dressage and show jumping arenas, and a horse exercise area. The couple also developed a man-made swimming lake complete with an entertaining cabana, islands, and even a water slide. According to reports, they recently received approval to construct two "celebrity guest houses" adjacent to their mansion, adding a further $4.4 million worth of improvements, bringing the total value to $8.6 million.

Luxury on-point

The proposed residence comprises two separate dwellings with a total of seven bedrooms, with each bedroom having its own ensuite bathroom. The expansive property will consist of four levels, a butler's pantry, and a swimming pool. A second building will be located next to a pond, which already features a cabana and fire pit. The garage will comfortably accommodate three Ferraris for the Hemsworths and their Hollywood friends.

In 2021, Chris and his brothers Liam and Luke also made a significant purchase in Newrybar, acquiring 37.5 hectares of land for $6.8 million. Situated on the Newrybar ridge line, the property offers sweeping ocean views. Additionally, in 2022, the brothers made another purchase in the Newrybar region, this time acquiring 44.5 hectares of land for $10.5 million.
