With plenty of teams unveiling alternate uniforms for the upcoming NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs won't be one of them any time soon.
This upcoming NFL season, there are going to be many teams wearing alternate or throwback uniforms for a game or more. For example, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing back the "Creamsicle" uniforms, the Philadelphia Eagles will don the Kelly Green uniforms, the Seattle Seahawks are bringing back their throwback jerseys and helmets, and the Tennessee Titans are going to wear the ever-popular Houston Oilers uniforms.
With all of the excitement regarding the throwback or alternate uniforms, one team has no plans of doing so any time soon.
Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said that he has no plans to introduce alternate uniforms. The reason Hunt gives is that his father, Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt, liked their uniforms the way they were.
Clark Hunt reveals there are no alternate uniform plans for the Chiefs
"It was something that my dad felt very strongly about, going back to the early '60s. He wanted a lot of continuity in the uniform and we've tried to maintain that over the years. I think we have a very distinct brand with the red and white, and I don't anticipate steering away from that any time soon," Hunt said, h/t ProFootballTalk.
The Chiefs have worn red, white, and yellow uniforms for a long time, and they are among the most popular for fans. That has undoubtedly grown, considering the emergence of quarterback, two-time Super Bowl champion, and two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes.
With training camp beginning, the Chiefs are preparing for yet another Super Bowl run. Last year, they were able to do so despite trading away wide receiver Tyreek Hill, and with Mahomes suffering a high ankle sprain in the Divisional Round against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chiefs made it to Super Bowl 57, overcame a 24-14 deficit, and defeated the Eagles 38-35 to win their third Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
Sure, there are so many teams that will be wearing alternate jerseys and helmets this season. For the Chiefs, they are going to stick with their usual uniforms for the upcoming season, and seemingly, beyond.
