LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Today’ host Savannah Guthrie embarks on an exciting assignment that will see her spend more time away from the morning show. She revealed alongside co-hosts, Craig Melvin and Hoda Kotb that she will soon be heading to Paris for Summer Olympics Games. On Tuesday, May 6 segment, Savannah Guthrie’s absence was filled in by beloved co-hosts Melvina and Kotb as she focuses on her new gig.
During a recent episode, ‘Today’ hosts Craig Melvin and Hoda Kotb revealed that Savannah Guthrie has headed out to Paris to be part of the Summer Olympics Game, 2024. Guthrie didn’t appear at her usual spot on the morning show and will be missing her duties for some time. Summer Olympics Game, the biggest sports event will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11 and NBC sent Savannah to cover the event, explaining her absence.
Savannah Guthrie’s Paris assignment
The absence of ‘Today’ host Savannah Guthrie was immediately spotted by viewers as she didn’t appear in her usual seat on Tuesday’s broadcast. Although it was already revealed that she will soon be heading to Paris, viewers hinted that she might have left for her long Paris trip. As soon as the show began, Hoda quickly revealed Guthrie’s whereabouts, giving insights into her Paris assignment. She explained referring to the 2024 Summer Olympics Games, “Savannah will join us from Paris tomorrow because, of course, we've got the countdown to the Olympics”. On the other hand, Craig teased Savannah’s absence among viewers as he urged them not to “feel bad for her”. He stated feeling jealous, “By the way, Savannah's missing this morning. Don't feel bad for her though. We're sure that Savannah Guthrie is having plenty of her own fun in Paris”. He then reinstated Hoda’s comment that Guthrie will be broadcasting from Paris on Wednesday and Thursday to cover the countdown to the Olympics.
Savannah Guthrie’s new assignment
Earlier last week, Savannah announced her new assignment from the studio to which her co-hosts Craig and Hoda admitted they were “jealous”. She got selected to do the job of covering the 2024 Summer Olympics Games from Paris. Hoda confessed, “We’re kind of jealous, Craig and I”, while Guthrie couldn’t hold her excitement as she explained, “To quote the Pointer Sisters, 'I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it.” She continued, “We are going to bring y'all a behind-the-scenes look at how France and Paris are preparing. We'll take you inside some of the country's most iconic landmarks. We'll be joined live by some team USA hopefuls; some names you know and some names you need to know.” Hoda, feeling envious replied, “Oh, fun!” and Guthrie told the viewers, “Don't miss it next Wednesday and Thursday mornings here on Today.” She then went about teasing her co-hosts, “Guys, I will investigate different rosés, of course. We're going to check out the French Open with John McEnroe.” Guthrie didn’t stop gushing about her excitement as Craig and Hoda got more apprehensive when Craig yelled, “Oh my God!” Guthrie smirked and replied, “Guys, it’s going to be lit!” Craig jokingly asked, “Are you coming back?” as Hoda teased with an answer, “She’ll be like, I’ll stay here.”
