The on-field beef between Dallas Cowboys teammates Dak Prescott and Trevon Diggs has gained national attention. But the quarterback is downplaying it.
The Dallas Cowboys are always in the spotlight heading into the season, as talking heads speculate about whether this is the year they'll finally make it to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since the 1995 season. But at training camp, the interactions between quarterback Dak Prescott and cornerback Trevon Diggs garnered attention.
In a now-viral video from Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Prescott ran out of bounds on a play, and Diggs got in his face. The cornerback can be heard saying to the quarterback, "Shut your b**** a** up."
With fans feeling that there was beef between Prescott and Diggs, the quarterback spoke about the now-viral clip on FOX 4 in Dallas Fort Worth on Wednesday, and downplayed the situation, calling it "very healthy banter."
"That's a guy that I spend a lot of time with, we're always going back and forth," said Prescott, h/t FOX 4. "When you're competing at a high level and you believe your side is better than the other side that's mutual and that's iron sharpening iron."

Diggs also spoke on the situation on Thursday. When asked about his relationship with Prescott, the cornerback said, "Stay out of our business."
"Stay out of it. People don't need to worry about what we've got going on — our relationship, my relationship with my brother, or how we operate," said Diggs, h/t USA Today. "At the end of the day, it's our team and Dak is the leader of our team."
The Cowboys have lofty expectations this year, as they do every season. Last year, the team lost a close game to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round. Prescott's play came into question throughout the season, as he missed five games due to a broken right thumb, and led the league in interceptions upon his return. Prescott threw for 2,860 yards and 23 touchdowns while completing 66.2 percent of his passes.
As for Diggs, he received a five-year, $97 million contract extension from the Cowboys. Last season, Diggs recorded 59 solo tackles (50 solo, nine assisted), 14 passes defended, and three interceptions. In coverage, Diggs allowed 55 completions for 673 yards and three touchdowns on 85 targets, per Pro Football Reference.
Regarding the viral clip and word exchanged, Prescott and Diggs have downplayed as competition between the two on the practice field.
