Reds manager David Bell lost his mind and got ejected arguing balls and strikes against the Cubs. His own broadcast called him out.
It's easy to understand why a manager would be frustrated after watching his pitcher throw back-to-back bases-loaded walks. But even the Reds broadcast couldn't defend David Bell for his outsized reaction while arguing the calls.
Bell stormed out to yell at the umpires after Luke Weaver walked Jaimer Candelario to drive in the Cubs' fourth run of the game.
Bell lost his hat, his mind and his right to stand in the dugout to manage the rest of the game.
The problem, of course, with Bell's tirade is that he was totally wrong. The Reds broadcast admitted as much after watching the manager meltdown: "David is protecting his pitcher on the mound but folks those are balls."

Yeah, Bell can kick and scream as much as he wants, but it's plain to see that those calls were correct. You know you're really wrong when your hometown broadcast admits as much.
The Cubs came into the bottom of the third tied up at 1-1. Weaver quickly picked up two outs quickly before things deteriorated. A wild pitch put Nico Hoerner on first, then Ian Happ walked and Cody Bellinger singled to right to bring a run home. Dansby Swanson then walked to load the bases. Two more walks followed to add two more runs to the board. Yan Gomes struck out to mercifully end the inning at that with Chicago leading 4-1.
Bell's reaction may be because the Reds are under a load of pressure right now. The Cubs lost the first game of the series on Monday but they've won the two since. A win on Thursday would give Chicago the series and pull them within two games of Cincinnati at the top of the NL Central.
