The Yankees placed pitcher Domingo German on the restricted list on Wednesday, and he will enter an alcohol abuse program after an incident that occurred in the clubhouse.
Andy Martino of SNY has revealed what took place in the Yankees clubhouse on Wednesday. The incident was not a domestic situation, per Martino.
However, Domingo German appeared visibly intoxicated in the Yankees clubhouse in which he "did not appear in control of his emotions." Thankfully, there were no incidents involving German and his teammates, but Aaron Boone and Co. did appear visibly shaken discussing German in the aftermath.
German, who was previously suspended 81 games for violating the league's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, was welcomed back to the team in 2021. He threw a perfect game this season, but had since struggled on the mound and was set to miss his most recent start with an armpit injury. He'll be out the rest of the season as he seeks treatment.

Per SNY, "German is not currently in violation of the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, nor is he under investigation by Major League Baseball, sources said. The Yankees handled the recent matter internally."
Brian Cashman and New York's front office discussed the incident on Wednesday. FanSided's Scott Rogust has that information:
"General manager Brian Cashman held a press conference shortly after the release of the statement, where he revealed that "there was an incident that took place yesterday," via MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. Cashman would not provide details, saying, "I'm worried right now for the person and the immediate family."
German had a 4.56 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, a 5-7 win-loss record, 114 strikeouts, and 34 walks in 108.2 innings on the season. His future in pinstripes or on the baseball diamond in general is unclear as of this writing, but we hope he gets the help he needs.
