Erik ten Hag says Manchester United 'have to wait' to discover the severity of the injury suffered by Lisandro Martinez.
The Argentina international started alongside Victor Lindelof in central defence for United against Arsenal on Sunday but came off in the 67th minute with a suspected foot problem. Lindelof was brought off late on, leaving Harry Maguire partnering Jonny Evans before late strikes from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus stole a 3-1 win for the Gunners at the Emirates.
Key centre-back Raphael Varane is recovering from an injury picked up in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest but fears of a lack of depth were realised during the defeat in north London.
Giving updates on Lindelof and Martinez post-match, Ten Hag said: "Victor was ill, so he had to come off. Licha had a problem on his foot, but I am not sure if it's an injury.
"We have to wait, to see, to make the diagnosis."
Martinez was later seen leaving the Emirates without a protective boot or crutches and will travel with Alejandro Garnacho to link up with the Argentina squad for the upcoming international break.
United were already suffering from the effects of a lengthy injury list, with both left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia sidelined. That saw Sergio Reguilon drafted in on loan from Tottenham but the Spaniard remained on the bench on Sunday afternoon while Diogo Dalot filled in.
Summer signing Mason Mount has been out of action since the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham in mid August, while promising youngsters Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo are also unavailable.
There was, however, a club debut for Rasmus Hojlund who enjoyed some positive moments in attack after replacing the ineffective Anthony Martial.
