LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In recent years, the acting abilities of ‘The Flash’ star, Ezra Miller, have been overshadowed by a series of controversies. The actor has been involved in various legal troubles, including assault, grooming, and burglary, which have garnered significant media attention. In an older interview, Miller made a remark comparing celebrity fanbases to cults, but ironically, in 2022, they themselves were accused of running a cult.
Despite these controversies, Miller's most anticipated film, ‘The Flash’, was released on June 16, 2023. They attended the Los Angeles premiere of the movie but chose to avoid giving any interviews. Many fans of the DC franchise have expressed their demand for Miller to be removed from the film due to their legal issues.
‘We're all mentally ill together'
During a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Miller spoke candidly about their life, and fame, and criticized the entertainment industry. Miller shares their perspective on stardom, stating, "If you watch the world, the cults of celebrity and the fanatics of celebrities, that’s what governs the world now." Taking a pause to inhale deeply, Miller continues, "So, you’re a politician or you’re whoever, you’re just a celebrity with a fan club, like me. You know? And we’re all probably mentally ill. I watch television or the news and I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s my people. Were all mentally ill together. Cool."
A series of dark controversies
Approximately four years after that interview, Miller was accused of running an alleged cult. In August 2022, several news outlets reported that Miller had been operating a cult-like group from a rented Airbnb in the Icelandic suburb of Kópavogur, near Reykjavík. It was claimed that the star targeted vulnerable young women and nonbinary individuals, using manipulative tactics to persuade them to isolate themselves from their families and loved ones. However, these allegations were never officially confirmed, and Miller was not approached by authorities regarding the matter.
Miller's list of controversies began in April 2020 when a video circulated on social media showing them apparently choking a woman at a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland. Over the following two months, the actor was involved in physical altercations with three individuals in Hawaii.
In June 2022, Miller faced accusations of grooming a minor, leading the parents of the minor, Chase Iron Eyes and Sara Jumping Eagle, to take legal action against them. Shortly after, another woman from Greenfield, Massachusetts, along with her child, obtained a temporary harassment prevention order against Miller, alleging inappropriate behavior towards the minor. Additionally, in August 2022, Miller was accused of burglarizing a home in Vermont and allowing a woman and her three children to stay at their farm, which was reportedly filled with firearms.
