Fans Are Hosting a Funeral for Red Dead Online

July 13 marks a full year since Red Dead Online's last new content update, and fans aren't too happy about it.

Red Dead Redemption 2's online mulitplayer mode Red Dead Online last received a new content update back in July 2021, prompting fans to acknowledge the mode as being dead. After months of campaigning through hashtags to #SaveRedDeadOnline, it seems fans have begun making preparations to honor its legacy.

As spotted by PCGamesN, fans are planning to hold a funeral for Red Dead Online, prompting the community to put on their best "funeral attire" to celebrate the life of Rockstar's forgotten child.

The fanpage Red Dead News were the ones to make the call on Twitter, saying, "Who's up for it then? A funeral to celebrate one year of Red Dead Online being abandoned?"

Other players were soon showing their support, showing what they'll be wearing for the occassion and lamenting the game's lost potential.

According to the Twitter pose, the "funeral" will be held on Wednesday July 13th. Players are encouraged to dress up their characters, bring friends, and tag the account in pictures using the hashtags #RedDeadFuneral and #SaveRedDeadOnline.

Rockstar has remained quiet when it comes to Red Dead Online and player frustration, periodically promoting in-game XP and Gold rewards, though noticeably to the community nothing substantial. Players have since drawn comparisons between Red Dead Online and GTA Online, a mode which Rockstar continues to support to a much higher degree.
