STOCK ISLAND, FLORIDA: A 33-year-old Florida man has been arrested for attacking a woman with a toddler in her arms. Deputies from Monroe County Sheriff's office said that Jeanty Falando Altenor was arrested on Saturday, July 29, and was later charged with battery, child abuse, and false imprisonment.

Authorities noted that the incident took place after 7:30 am on Wednesday, July 26 when officers were called to Maloney Avenue on Stock Island. Upon their arrival, the 34-year-old victim told officers that she was holding her infant when the Florida man hit her in the face with his fists, his feet, and a child’s scooter and also spit on her. She informed the deputies that there were three other children present at the time when the incident happened. Following an initial investigation, deputies determined that she had injuries to match her story. The victim also revealed that Altenor told her he would kill her if she called the police. Monroe County Officials stated that warrants were obtained for the Florida man's arrest and he was booked into jail on Saturday, according to CBS News.

Similar Incident

This incident came just a few days after another Florida man was arrested for dunking a woman’s head in a vat of tar-like substance and choking her at gunpoint. Marshall Dimick, 55, of Rosewood, was taken into custody earlier this week after an unidentified woman reported to authorities that she had been tortured following an "argument" with the offender on Thursday, July 26. The Florida man has since been charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a firearm, and four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The victim allegedly told officials that Dimick dunked her head into a "vat of tar-like substance that is used to treat clam and oyster bags.” He also “pointed a shotgun at her and choked her to near unconsciousness,” the Levy County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. The officials also noted that the victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of severe chemical burns to her face and arms. Following an initial investigation, police classified the crime as a “domestic dispute.” The statement also revealed that the Florida man reportedly “removed several firearms” from his home before cops arrived. Deputies later found the firearms at a “neighboring property,” the sheriff’s office said. Dimick is currently being held at the Levy County Detention Center on a $550,000 bail.
