Forget Leaks: Google Shows Off Pixel 8, Pixel Watch 2 Itself in New Videos

It's not uncommon for "leaks" about upcoming Pixel devices to arrive at a breakneck pace. But now we don't have to settle for leaks anymore, as Google is officially releasing new imagery of the upcoming devices in two teaser videos.

Last month, we saw credible information that suggests the Pixel 8 series will feature an "audio magic eraser," for instance. Several official-looking images of the Pixel 8 Pro have also been floating around, and we already know to expect rounder corners in the latest design, which doesn't seem too far from last year's look.

We've also learned there are new camera hardware, AI tricks, and possibly a new camera app in the upcoming Pixel 8 series. One of the highlights of the Pixel phone series is its camera capabilities, so here's hoping any changes are genuinely improvements.

However, all of that has been rumors based on leaked images, videos, and surveys. But now that we're just under a month away from the official launch of the latest and greatest Pixel devices, Google is releasing straight-up teasers of the devices. Today, it posted two videos about an hour apart. The first starts with the Google logo, which eventually transforms into an 8. That transitions to quick teaser closeup shots of the Pixel 8 devices and a new watch.

The second video gives us an even better view, and now we have truly official imagery to behold. The second video confirms the rounded edges rumor. It also suggests that, as with past devices, the Pixel 8 Pro will house a larger display than the standard Pixel.

What we can't see are the screens, so it's unclear whether the Pro series will continue to use a curved display. What little we saw of the new Pixel Watch reveals a nearly identical look to the first iteration.

Google used the same strategy earlier this year when it posted a teaser photos of the Pixel Fold ahead of its I/O developer conference.

We'll know all the details, specs, and pricing on Oct. 4, so stay tuned. Until then, you can also sign up for any other updates on the Google Store.
