'Freedom does not trump being cold': Jesse Watters' reaction to migrants going back home goes viral

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News host Jesse Watters has garnered immense social media attention after voicing his views on migrants fleeing back home due to unfavorable weather conditions and scarcity of supplies.

Approximately 20,000 migrants have arrived in Chicago since August 2022, when Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott began loading them onto buses and shipping them off to sanctuary cities.

Following their arrival, a large number of immigrants were forced to spend the night in the streets, in local police stations, or at O'Hare International Airport.

But now, due to Illinois' severe winters, dearth of infrastructure for migrants, and conflicting local support, many people who braved the dangerous trek across the US-Mexico border have actually turned around and returned home, according to Daily Mail.

What did Jesse Watters say about migrants?

On Monday’s ‘The Five’, the hosts were talking about furious migrants are refusing to stay in tent shelters set up for them in New York City, when the baton was passed to Watters.

“Kamala Harris said these migrants were coming because of climate change. It was too hot in Latin America,” he said before bursting into laughter.

He then described the migrants as “snowbirds,” saying “It gets to be 50 degrees and they're like we're going back. Maybe they're snowbirds. Greg. Maybe they're just simmering in Chicago and they're wintering in Venezuela. Right.”

“Wou know Biden paid for their flights, their buses, why not? And the ones in New York. I'm with the judge. You can't stay at a 500-dollar-a-night Midtown hotel for free for a year, where we do your laundry and we make your dinners. And then we get a place in Brooklyn and they don't want to burrow,” he continued.

He then stated “Yeah, oh so sorry. Brooklyn is not good enough for you because it's too far away from your work. Well, really, because only two percent of you are applying for work permits. What work is too far away from the schools? Will they? You can learn about CRT in Brooklyn too.”

The Fox News host concluded by claiming that US citizens are “very generous, but we also don't like when people are ungrateful.” “We're feeling that they're a little ungrateful. Greg, and I don't like it,” he stated.

Internet reacts to Jesse Watters’ remarks

Jesse Watters’ remarks have garnered immense social media attention, with several users agreeing with him.

“We the people will volunteer to Deport them all!!” one user said.

“I once sponsored a Colombian for a high-tech job. He legally came in, had a work visa, and was legally a landed immigrant. After 1 winter, he left back to Colombia. Freedom doesn't trump being cold,” the second user wrote.

“If they want here so badly???, and you wanna go home right away? Let’s do it,” the third user asserted while the fourth stated “Great news..don't come back”

“You are right. The people that came now, are not workers or looking for a better life. They are invaders, not refugees. It is well known that men from terrorist Groups are using Venezuelan passports, and they empty the prisons too. This admin brought them here,” the fifth user claimed.

“I hope they kick them out of the hotels and they didn’t come because of climate change they came to get everything for free like they are doing!” one more said.
