Garth Brooks refuses to join 'Bud Light boycott', declares his Nashville bar will be a place 'you feel safe in'

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Garth Brooks has decided not to give into “hatred” as he announced to sell “serve every brand of beer” at his upcoming bar in Nashville’s South Broadway District amid Bud Light controversy. The beer brand has been in the news lately after sending a beer can to the transgender actress Dylan Mulvaney with her face on it.

The move received huge backlash as country music stars John Rich and Kid Rock disassociated themselves from the firm and also stopped selling Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light from their respective bars. But Brooks does not want to follow their paths with his ‘Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk’ as he told Billboard, “I know this sounds corny. I want it to be the Chick-fil-A of honky-tonks ….”

‘Love one another’

The 61-year-old country singer continued, “I want it to be a place you feel safe in, I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another. And yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer. We just are.”

He also added, “It’s not our decision to make. Our thing is this if you [are let] into this house, love one another. If you’re an a–hole, there are plenty of other places on Lower Broadway.”

‘Hopefully people will decide with their wallet’

But it seems people on the internet is not much happy with Brooks’ decision. A user tweeted, “I wondered how much they paid him.” The second user wrote, “Hopefully people will decide with their wallet I have no doubt there are many bars nearby, and even though he's selling it doesn't mean people have to buy it.” The third one remarked, “Aaaaaand cancelled.”

“no longer my friend... I avoid g$& bars anyway,” the fourth one said. The fifth one added, “He can do whatever he wants. Because this an open wound, don't expect old school beer drinkers to embrace Bud Light again.”

‘Garth is acceptive of the gay community’

However, there were some who showed their support for Brooks. A person shared, “Lol at people upset that Garth Brooks won’t join in their anti-LGBTQ Bud Light boycott clearly don’t remember him singing that we shall be free ‘when we’re free to love anyone we choose’ 31 years ago. And then performing it with rainbow stage lights a few years back.”

Another commented, “Garth Brooks is an icon who truly stands for love and acceptance. It's ridiculous that anyone would expect him to join in on a hateful boycott. Keep shining bright, Garth!” “Garth is acceptive of the gay community. His sister was gay, he chose those lines in WE SHALL BE FREE, I went to his concert in 2016 he saw a sign held by 2 guys and showed em love back.He knows he gets backlash but he don't care and not all country folk are homophobes. I❤️Garth,” a tweet stated.
