‘GMA’ meteorologist Ginger Zee trolled for her coverage of Canadian wildfires

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ meteorologist Ginger Zee is renowned for her bold and intensive coverage on the subject of climate change.

Being an active voice in the arena of climate change, Zee makes it her duty to inform and educate the electorate about the deteriorating effects of climate change at every instant.

The 42-year-old was hard at work, reporting about another massive wildfire that had engulfed Yellowknife, the capital of Canada’s Northwest Territories. This disaster comes right after Hawaii's Maui bore the brunt of huge wildfires that almost destroyed the island.

Zee, who mentioned that the ongoing Canadian wildfires were “unprecedented” in nature, didn’t know that trolls online were waiting for an opportunity to strike and take her down once again.

Once again, climate change deniers backed Zee into a corner, mocking her efforts to report another disaster caused by climate change.

Trolls mock ‘GMA’ host Ginger Zee’s coverage of global warming

‘GMA’ meteorologist Ginger Zee’s brief coverage of the Canadian wildfires was met with a hostile reaction by a fraction of the viewers.

Reuters reported that there were 1,054 active wildfires in Canada as of Wednesday, August 16. Out of these, 669 were deemed out of control according to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Center.

The previous record wildfire season was in 1989 when 7.6 million hectares (18.8 million acres) were burned.

Zee was stressing about the gravity of the situation and how such a situation has never transpired in the past. The ‘GMA’ meteorologist also mentioned the effects of wildfires on the northern half of the United States but the trolls didn’t want any part of it.

Posting a clip of her coverage on Instagram, she wrote, "The entire city of Yellowknife, capital of Canada’s Northwest Territories, is evacuating the entire town by Friday, population around 20k."

She further added, "Unprecedented acreage burned in Canadian wildfires this season - burning more than the size of the state of New York if you combine all the fire acreage burned!"

Questioning Zee’s report, one mocked her and wrote, “Is this the daily GLOBAL WARMING post?” A second denied Zee’s coverage altogether and said, “Nope, Canada is on fire every summer. This is nothing new for us.”

One viewer mocked her, writing, “LET ME GUESS?? CLIMATE CHANGE?” Another denied climate change and blamed the government, saying, “Government fires! They started it!”

A fifth commenter said, “@ginger_zee your lies will catch up with you all,” while a sixth joked and dragged former US President Donald Trump into the conversation. “Trump will be charged for this,” the person said.

Ginger Zee shared her motivational mantra with fans

Despite the backlash she sometimes faces, the ‘GMA’ meteorologist doesn’t shy away from sharing the best moments of her life on social media. Recently, Zee shared a motivational post while she was feeling low.

Zee captioned her post, “We don’t have to smile every day all day. Repeating all my mantras for the last 24 hours. This won’t matter a year from now. Gratitude is the attitude. Keep doing my best as I always do. The sunshine and smiles will be back.”

She further added, “Just saying it for anyone who needs to hear it,” and fans of hers flocked to uplift her spirits with a few stating that they were “sending a little extra sunshine today.”
