The Edmonton Oilers are the final Canadian team left in the race for the Stanley Cup, but after a Friday night loss in Vegas, they're one loss away from being sent home and extending Canada's Cup drought, which dates back to 1993.
The Golden Knights got the better of the Oilers in Game 5, winning by a final score of 4-3, and now have a chance to advance to the Conference Final for the fourth time in their six year history as a franchise.
But, in order for Vegas to secure their berth on Sunday, they need to win Game 6 in Edmonton.
Let's dive into the odds for the big Game 6.
Golden Knights vs. Oilers odds, puck line, and total
Golden Knights vs. Oilers prediction and pick
Instead of betting on a side in this game, I'm going to take a look at the total instead.
The UNDER has gone 3-2 in this series, and I'm going to bet on that bet to improve to 4-2 after Game 6.
The game opens up when either team is on the powerplay, but when it's 5-on-5 action, this series has been more defensive than you may think. For example, both teams are averaging 10.8 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes of 5-on-5 play. That is the sixth and seventh lowest rate of high-danger chances amongst the eight playoff teams this round.
With that being said, both powerplays have been potent which does lend to some caution when betting the UNDER. The other concern is the goaltenders, who both sport a sub-.900 save percentage in this series.
But, with the total set at a high mark of 6.5 and the UNDER juiced at plus-money, I think that's the best to make.
