Good Guy Mark Canha hypes up New York Mets Pride Night

The MLB has received backlash for the way that some players and the commissioner Rob Manfred have accepted Pride Month. Mark Canha stands out from the rest.

The MLB has found itself in the spotlight during the month of June, mainly surrounding its handling of Pride Month and how things will be handled in the MLB. Rob Manfred made some comments that didn't sit well with a lot of fans, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community.

"We have told teams, in terms of actual uniforms, hats, bases that we don't think putting logos on them is a good idea just because of the desire to protect players," Manfred said recently.

He noted that he thought it was best to leave these decisions to teams and to individual players.

One specific individual player has taken it upon himself to show support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Mark Canha takes the lead in hyping up Mets Pride Night

Mark Canha of the New York Mets has taken multiple steps to show his support to the community, including a tweet this afternoon, prior to the Mets Pride Night on Friday night. The tweet noted his support and his encouragement to "come celebrate love with the Mets."

This tweet isn't the only outward showcase of support that Canha has done during the Mets Pride Night. In fact, he changed his walk-up songs for tonight only. His songs will be as follows: "You Need to Calm Down" by Taylor Swift, "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga, "Vogue" by Madonna, "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross, and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston.

After some players and officials in the MLB have drawn some negative attention to the league in terms of support and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community, Canha has done the exact opposite. Having such an outspoken athlete is a breath of fresh air for the community and all those that support love in what it is. Canha is doing his part to show the world that love is love and he invites everybody else to do the same.
