Steve Clarke has not sought any kind of guarantees from Elliot Anderson about the midfielder’s Scotland future. The Whitley Bay-born Newcastle United player, who has a Scottish grandmother, has played at youth level for both Scotland and England. The 20-year-old was called up by the Scotland boss for the first time for the Euro 2024 qualifier against Cyprus in Larnaca on Friday and the challenge match against England at Hampden Park next week after deciding against switching allegiance to England following positive discussions with Clarke. However, Anderson officially withdrew from the squad on Wednesday night after picking up an injury in training. Asked at the pre-match media conference in Cyprus if he had sought any assurances from Anderson, the Scotland boss said: “No. He just went home.” The Scotland boss had already been asked if he had any fears surrounding international allegiances, and had said: “It is not something I can control. “There’s not a lot I can do about it. “Obviously (disappointing not to have the chance to work with Elliot), that’s why we brought him into the squad. “Disappointing to lose Elliot and Liam (Kelly) on the same day but that’s part and parcel of international football, you deal with it. “Obviously we had to replaced Liam because we couldn’t come with two goalkeepers so we brought in young Robby (McCrorie). who has been part of the squad before, he understands. A passenger who was onboard the now-infamous diarrhoea Delta flight has detailed the “horrible” experience everyone endured. The Delta flight went viral after details emerged confirming the plane U-turned after a passenger onboard “had diarrhoea all the way through” the plane. The incident occurred on 2 September on a journey between Atlanta and Barcelona, which turned back around an hour into the journey. Audio recording from the flight deck heard the pilot of Flight DL194, explain: “This is a biohazard issue. We’ve had a passenger who’s had diarrhoea all the way through the aeroplane, so they want us to come back to Atlanta.” A passenger whose partner was onboard has spoken up about the experience, writing on X/Twitter: “My partner was on that flight! It was pretty bad. It was dribbled down the aisle, smelled horrible. “The vanilla-scented disinfectant used on it only made it smell like vanilla s**t. After the plane landed, it was thoroughly cleaned. They didn’t leave until around 2.30am.” They continued: “The flight was met by emergency vehicles and EMTs carried the sick passenger off the plane. My partner said the plane was cleaner when they got back on at 2am than it was the first time they got on. No smell either.” Another passenger who was onboard explained that it was right for everyone to make the decision to turn back. On X/Twitter, they said: “Both my wife and I were on the flight. It was a mess. The pilots made the right decision to turn around. The ground crew ripped out the carpet and put new in. A woman made her other half sleep in a different bed after they clashed about vomit, of all things. Posting on Reddit, the woman explained her husband got so drunk after a BBQ he ended up vomiting in their bathroom sink. To make matters worse, he refused to clean it up because he claimed he didn't know how to. She added that while she in general deals "with all domestic house duties" and is "happy to do it" she felt that what he was doing showed "straight up disrespect". So, she banished him to their spare room. "I was super upset after him feeding me excuses of why he can clean up his own vomit, he smelt horribly of liquor and was starting to raise his voice at me when he was explaining he couldn’t clean it because he 'had to go to work to pay for all the things we want', she said. "To be clear, we have our own individual bank accounts and he doesn’t pay for any of my personal bills or recreational purchases," she added. "After his exudes of why not to clean it up, I didn’t engage or continue with the argument because when you’re sober there’s no reasoning with a drunk person, so, I had asked him to sleep on the spare room." Responding to her story, people thought she had been reasonable. "How do you live that long and not know how to clean up your own puke?" one said. "I can't stand people who drink irresponsibly," another said. "He threw up and he gets to clean it up. Not you." And a third said: "He got drunk and threw up not you. He should clean it up.
