We will find each other – Erik ten Hag sure Marcus Rashford will agree new deal
We will find each other – Erik ten Hag sure Marcus Rashford will agree new deal
Erik ten Hag is confident Manchester United and Marcus Rashford will “find each other” regarding the forward’s contract situation. Rashford has only one year left on his deal at the club he has played for since the age of seven. The 25-year-old rubbished reports earlier this year that he was demanding £500,000 per week but the situation continues to drag on. Ten Hag is publicly calm, saying: “I know (it is taking time), but I don’t talk about the process. “This is not important at the moment for me or Rashy. For him, it is to get more goals this season and he is playing a wonderful season and the team is playing a wonderful season. “We have to get into the Champions League and focus on that. Marcus wants to stay and we want him to stay, so I think we will find each other.” The uncertainty over United’s takeover process will inevitably lead to concern about their prospects for the summer transfer window. Ten Hag said: “We do our job in the background and we are working hard but, for now, it is about games, getting into the Champions League and the FA Cup. “For me, it is about finance and that there is the money available to do the right things.” United have a big fortnight ahead, with their final three Premier League matches determining whether they will qualify for the Champions League before a first FA Cup final showdown with Manchester City. Up first is a trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, where United, who could be without the unwell Rashford, will look to put their away struggles behind them. Eight of the Red Devils’ nine league defeats this season have come on the road, with their last three trips away from Old Trafford yielding just one point between them. Marcus wants to stay and we want him to stay, so I think we will find each other Erik ten Hag Ten Hag said: “I think there are some reasons. For instance, one thing is clear and that is from the back we have to be better on the ball. “But we have one opportunity tomorrow to show that we can improve and we definitely have to improve for next season.” Manchester City are moving ever close to matching United’s achievement of winning the treble, adding an extra edge to the FA Cup final on June 3. Asked if he is relishing the opportunity to stop City, Ten Hag said: “When we have three games and (the Premier League) is gone, yes, I will enjoy it. Before that, it is not important at all. “I think we have to keep doing what we have all season, improve every day and improve every game and not look too far ahead. Focusing on the next game is the most important.”

Newcastle sign Southampton defender Tino Livramento on five-year deal
Newcastle sign Southampton defender Tino Livramento on five-year deal
Newcastle have completed the signing of Southampton defender Tino Livramento for an undisclosed fee. The England Under-21 international has agreed a five-year deal with the Magpies after the two clubs agreed a reported fee which could rise to around £35million. Livramento told the club’s official website: “I’m really excited to have signed for Newcastle United and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans. “I was here for the games over the weekend; even though they were friendlies, there were so many fans and they were still so loud so I can’t wait to see what it feels like to play in front of them in a Premier League or Champions League game. “The way the manager plays football is really attractive and I feel like it suits me as a player. And with how well the team did last season, the trajectory that we’re on now, I’m just looking forward to being a part of that.” Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has now added three new players to his squad this summer following the arrivals of Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali from AC Milan and winger Harvey Barnes from Leicester. Livramento, 20, who signed a five-year deal when he joined Southampton from Chelsea for £5m in August 2021, missed all but the final two games last season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in April 2022. He returned to action in May, making two substitute appearances in Southampton’s final two Premier League games before they were relegated. Newcastle will play Champions League football next season after finishing fourth in Howe’s first full campaign in charge. Howe added: “Tino is a very talented young player with an exciting future ahead of him so we are delighted to sign him. “At 20, he already has lots of attributes that I admire but he also has the potential and drive to really grow with this team. I’m looking forward to working with him and to seeing him develop in a Newcastle shirt.” Read More Charity boss speaks out over ‘traumatic’ encounter with royal aide Ukraine war’s heaviest fight rages in east - follow live

Manchester United vs Wolves LIVE: Premier League latest score and updates as Mason Mount makes debut
Manchester United vs Wolves LIVE: Premier League latest score and updates as Mason Mount makes debut
The first week of Premier League action concludes tonight when Manchester United welcome Wolves to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag has been working hard over the summer to update United’s squad with many fringe players being shipped out. The likes of Phil Jones, Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga have all left the club and not even big names such as David De Gea have survived Ten Hag’s overhaul. In bringing new signings, Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund, to the club the United boss hopes to add depth to his team as he looks to improve on a third place finish from last season. The Red Devils are looking to kick off their campaign with a victory and will be banking on Marcus Rashford replicating his incredible form from last year. Wolves, meanwhile, are in a state of flux. They’re going through something of a rebuild themselves with a couple of key players exiting this summer. Adama Traore is out the door and Ruben Neves has been lured to Saudi Arabia. The midlands club still have a committed group of players though they’ll be hoping Gary O’Neil has the acumen to get the best out of them after the former Bournemouth boss replaced Julen Lopetegui earlier this month.
