Two practice laps. That’s all it took for Sergio Perez to show – much to his own astonishment – how the Red Bull pendulum has swung ahead of this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix. From a position of such strength three months ago off the back of two wins in four races, the Mexican’s spot at the runaway leaders in Formula 1 looks to be shrouded in more doubt as the weeks go on. On Friday, barely five minutes into first practice at the short and twisty Hungaroring in Budapest, Perez inexplicably clipped the grass and crashed heavily into the barrier at turn five. The shunt is a sign of the times. As much as everyone at Red Bull insist the 33-year-old will remain with the team until at least the end of his contract and the end of the 2024 season, Christian Horner and Helmut Marko have shown they won’t wait. Patience is not a virtue adhered to at Red Bull. First, there’s been Perez’s own bad form. Since qualifying on pole in Miami at the start of May, he has not made the final qualifying session in five attempts; three of those have been an overwhelmingly poor Q1 elimination. Whilst the Mexican is second in the world championship, he is 99 points behind Max Verstappen in the same machinery. Results in comparison to your team-mate remain the ultimate barometer in F1 and right now, Perez is woefully short of pace and consistency. And second, here comes Daniel RIcciardo. The Australian, so forlorn of confidence in his final year at McLaren in 2022, is back in the sport having replaced Nyck de Vries at Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri. More significantly, the looks a figure completely rejuvenated for his eight months off. Having told The Independent that race wins and a world championship remains his ultimate goal, the popular Australian did not wilt when asked if a Red Bull seat – perhaps as soon as 2024, more likely in 2025 – was the long-term target. “It’s kind of another chance to make things better,” Ricciardo said in Budapest. “I think that’s why I was excited to get back behind the wheel and just kind of show my true self. Even the thought of that excites me. “Obviously the dream is a Red Bull seat. Of course that was my wish, but you need to be realistic, and if I want to get back into Red Bull it will be a process, and this is the best path for me at the moment.” That path starts with beating AlphaTauri team-mate Yuki Tsunoda in the remaining 12 races this season, in what is distinguishably the worst car on the grid. In his first running in 2023, Ricciardo was 14th in second practice on Friday, while FP1 earlier in the day was foiled by a few red flags and variable weather, rendering it largely irrelevant in terms of action. As for Perez, he was only 18th-fastest in second practice, ahead of an alternative qualifying format on Saturday where each of the three sessions will require a different tyre. Charles Leclerc was fastest for Ferrari, with Lando Norris second for McLaren and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly in third. Max Verstappen could only manage 11th in a session which was difficult to read, though Mercedes really struggled – Lewis Hamilton was only 16th on the leaderboard and last year’s pole-sitter George Russell was dead last. A tough day to decipher. Expect Verstappen’s usual season dominance to return over the weekend, especially with a package which should improve the RB19’s already imperious aerodynamic performance. One element which was not hard to read, though, was Perez’s current anxiety in the cockpit. And a need to reverse his damaging slide, for his own sake, as soon as possible. Salma Hayek Pinault has explained the reason why she solely wore menswear to many of her early red carpet appearances. The actor, 56, reflected on her decades-long career in Hollywood in a new interview with W Magazine. When asked whether she remembers her first-ever red carpet appearance, Hayek recalled how she wore a “man’s suit” to the occasion because it was the only fashion connection she had at the time. “I didn’t have any connections,” Hayek said, referring to the moment she walked the red carpet at the 1996 premiere of The Birdcage. “The only connection I had was to somebody I knew at Hugo Boss, so I wore a man’s suit because no one else gave me anything to wear.” For the Los Angeles movie premiere, which took place at Mann Village Theatre in Westwood, California, Hayek wore a grey, pinstriped suit jacket with matching trousers and a mock-neck black T-shirt underneath. The Mexican-American actor previously opened up about her first red carpet in a 2021 interview with Vogue India, where she explained that designers had declined to dress her at the time because she wasn’t as well-known in the industry. “I’m Mexican. I’m also very short, which doesn’t help with the weight and doesn’t help with the design," she told the fashion magazine. "But you know, I was ingenious. I took chances. I met someone at Hugo Boss, who was the only connection I had, so I wore man suits for a while.” Speaking to Vogue India, Hayek went on to recall how she wore a “very simple black dress” to MTV Music Video Awards in 1998. While she noted that all the other women were wearing “fabulous dresses” and “beautiful jewellery,” she decided to decorate her body with butterfly tattoos. “Instead of giving me a complex and saying that I don’t have the best dress or they don’t know who I am, I was like: ‘I am fabulous,’” she said. “I painted some butterfly tattoos on myself and I felt happy about myself." While Hayek has since made a name for herself in the fashion world, she hasn’t strayed far from her menswear roots. The House of Gucci star wore another menswear look for her late-night appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 1996, where she sported a brown suit with a white button-down shirt and red geometric tie. In 2014, she was pictured wearing a navy blue Saint Laurent suit with a sharp black tie and white button-up shirt, as well as a black tuxedo dress with a matching black bow tie for the premiere of Exodus: Gods and Kings that same year. Thousands of gallons of diesel were released into the Tennessee River after a tugboat sank in northwest Alabama, prompting calls for swimmers to get out of the water after the fuel began washing up on nearby shores, authorities said Sunday.

The cast of the Fast & Furious franchise have been paying tribute to the late Paul Walker on the 10th anniversary of his death. The actor who played undercover police officer turned street racer Brian O'Connor in the action film series, died aged 40 in on November 30 2013 after the Porsche Carrera GT he was a passenger in crashed at a speed of more than 100mph in Los Angeles, according to a coroner's report in 2014. Walker's friend and financial adviser Roger Rodas who was driving the car also passed away from the crash. No drugs or alcohol were detected in either Walker or Rodas and both were pronounced dead at the scene, combined traumatic and thermal injuries were the cause of Walker's death, while Rodas died of multiple traumatic injuries. Walker was also known for roles in She's All That (1999), Varsity Blues (1999), Into The Blue (2005) and Joy Ride (2001). Following the success of 2001's Fast & Furious film, Walker returned to the role in 2003 for the sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious, and seven years later reprised his role once more for Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013). Most of Walker's scenes had been filmed for Furious 7 (2015) before his sudden death, but questions remained on how the film would continue. With the release date pushed back for a year, the ending was changed to pay tribute to Walker and his character which saw O'Connor retire. Archived footage of the actor from previous outtakes or shots from earlier Fast & Furious films were repurposed to complete the film, according to Screen Rant. Walker's brothers Caleb and Cody performed his scenes and their faces were replaced with CGI versions of Paul in post-production. Since Walker's death, a foundation has been set up in his honour - The Paul Walker Foundation - by his daughter Meadow Walker. For the 10th anniversary of Walker's death, Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel posted a heartwarming message along with a photo of the late actor with Diesel's daughter which he described as "one of my favourite images ever taken". "After ten years… I know these days of beautiful remembrance will be filled with tears," Diesel wrote. "But as time rolls on, with each year that passes… more smiles manage to break through the tears. Cause I know, when I see you again… our brotherhood will be stronger than we left it. Miss you." Jordana Brewster who played Walker's love interest Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise shared photos of the pair together on set - "10 years without you," she wrote in the caption. While Walker's daughter, Meadow Walker shared a sweet video of her younger self surprising her father. Before giving her a hug he says in the clip: "You just scared the hell out of me. What the hell are you doing? No way! No way!" "10 years without you… I love you forever," Meadow added in the post caption.
