Authorities in Iceland have declared a state of emergency and asked thousands of people to evacuate after hundreds of earthquakes rocked the country's southwestern Reykjanes peninsula. The UK have ramped up its advice to British travellers, saying it is “increasingly possible” that a volcanic eruption could occur. However, they advise: “Keflavik International Airport is operating as normal. While there is no current eruption, it is increasingly possible that one could occur. You should monitor local media for updates and follow the authorities advice on travel to the area.” The advice stops well short of advising against travel to Iceland, meaning airlines and holiday companies are operating as normal – with no automatic right to cancel. Iceland’s National Police Commissioner declared a state of emergency for civil defence after 1,485 earthquakes hit the country in the last 48 hours. Thousands of people living in the southwestern town of Grindavik have been asked to leave as a precaution. A woman has shared the shocking moment she found what appeared to be used boxers on a rack in a clothing shop. Paula pops into her local warehouse sale in Vancouver, Canada, every couple of months, often picking up amazing vintage or discounted branded products for low prices. However, a recent visit on 2 September has left her stumped, with her calling the discovery “gross”. Taking to TikTok (@thisgirlpppaula), her video has gone viral – gathering over 57,000 views. “The sale was hectic as always and extremely messy with clothes everywhere,” Paula, who works in social media marketing, told NeedToKnow.co.uk. “I was really open-minded when I went because you truly never know what you’re going to find. I was in the short[s] section, going through the hangers, sliding them along and I came across a pair of shorts. “I immediately knew these didn’t belong there but I had to double-check.” Paula then took it upon herself to get rid of the dirty pair. She said: “Gross. Rather than leaving them there, I just did everyone a favour and threw them away, they didn’t belong here. I did notify a staff [member] of what I found and they thanked me for throwing it away.” Paula recorded the bizarre find and posted it to social media. “GIRL! Who’s boyfriend did this?!,” the caption read. [sic] “Someone hung their nasty crusty boxers.” The video reveals the “gross” grey boxers, before showing Paula popping them into a bin. The post has over 1,700 likes and plenty of comments from baffled users. Joey said: “That is so nice of you for taking it out of the racks, a lot of people would just leave it.” Regina commented: “I once saw someone’s Walmart-branded sweatpants on the rack.” Weenie added: “Literally I grabbed a pair of sweat shorts and they had period stains all over the inside.” Jam wrote: “Girl why did you touch it!”, to which Paula replied, “I HAD TO! Otherwise, it would still be there.” [sic] “Omg babe as someone who was working there thank u for throwing it out,” said one follower. West Ham (Leeds H, Leicester A) Given their own plight and their opposition in the final two rounds of fixtures, West Ham will play a deciding role in who goes down. It will take an extraordinary set of results for them to be relegated as they are six points clear of Leeds with a significantly better goal difference, so would need to lose both games heavily and see a number of other results go against them. Their only concern will be how their European exertions affect them, with their match against Leeds coming days after a Europa Conference League semi-final second leg against AZ Alkmaar. Nottingham Forest (Arsenal H, Crystal Palace A) Seven points from the last four games has hauled Forest out of the bottom three and they now could stay up even if they lose their remaining fixtures. Safety will be assured if they draw with Arsenal at the City Ground and then Leeds lose at West Ham and Leicester fail to beat Newcastle. However, two defeats, including on the final day at Crystal Palace, and results going against them elsewhere would see them drop back into the Championship. Everton (Wolves A, Bournemouth H) Everton, on paper, have the kindest fixtures of those in the fight and they will fancy their chances of staying up, with their Bank Holiday win at Brighton last week looking pivotal. They will confirm their survival if they win at Wolves and then Leeds lose at West Ham and Leicester fail to beat Newcastle. Two defeats could be enough for Leeds to overtake them by drawing just one of their two games, although that will be dependent on a minor goal difference swing. Leeds (West Ham A, Tottenham H) Leeds are relying on other teams to lose, but they also have to do their own business under Sam Allardyce, with so many permutations still possible. The most worrying one is they will be sent back to the Championship if they lose at West Ham, Everton win at Wolves and Forest pick up a positive result against Arsenal. But, as mentioned, they could stay up by drawing just one game, if Everton and Leicester lose both of their matches. They will be hoping to take advantage of West Ham’s European distraction as Allardyce visits his old club on Sunday before a vital home game against Tottenham. Leicester (Newcastle A, West Ham H) Leicester, Premier League champions seven years ago, could be relegated if they fail to beat Newcastle on Monday night, Forest pick up a point against Arsenal and Everton beat Wolves. Defeat at St James’ Park would also mean Everton would only need two points from their final two games. To stay up, Leicester realistically need to win at least one of their remaining games at Newcastle or at home to West Ham, although it is possible two draws could be enough.
