Popstar Ava Max injured after being slapped by a fan on stage
An Ava Max fan was escorted off stage by security after slapping the popstar and leaving her injured. The footage shows the 29-year-old dancing on stage during one of her LA shows. The star was dressed in a blue and black shimmery two-piece. It was then that a man ran on stage and slapped the singer mid-performance. Security dragged him away, as Max continued to finish her song. He’s never coming to a show again thank you to the fans for being spectacular tonight in LA though!!" The footage soon went viral across Twitter, with many fans outraged and concerned for the 'Sweet but Psycho' singer. "So first a man throws a phone a Bebe Rhexa’s face because he ‘thought it would be funny, and now a man jumps on stage and slaps ava max? wtf is wrong with men," one person wrote, while another asked: "Are people okay? like what in the actual f***?" "This is behaviour is actually heartbreaking omg," a third added. "She handled it so well too by still ending the show." Meanwhile, one person who claimed to be at the show wrote: "I was there and this was crazy!! someone gave her a teddy bear earlier in the show. for anyone reading if you ever want an artist’s attention, do something like that, NOT this." Posters starring XL Bully dogs just keep getting wilder
Posters starring XL Bully dogs just keep getting wilder
If there’s one thing the recent ban has revealed about American Bully XL owners, it is that they really, really love their dogs. Some might argue this is for good reason – the breed is known for being intelligent, sociable, and eager to please its owner. But along with the outpouring of love, swathes of memes and posters have emerged from XL Bully supporters which throw a more eyebrow-raising spotlight on the breed. Take the below from one Instagram user, who has placed a selection of Bullies in a knock-off Fast & Furious poster, complete with flames in the background, a motorbike and a souped-up car on either side. The same user also posted a similar mock-up earlier this month of a Bully next to a French Bulldog, with flames emanating from both sides of the unsuspecting canines. Elsewhere, a poster from June advertising a meetup between Bully owners from the UK and Brazil, with dogs placed in front of famous landmarks from the two countries including Big Ben and Christ The Redeemer. A list of names appears below the dogs in the image: DXD Violet, SBC Staxx, Pitmon Deadshot and Canilsagreal Unica. The caption on the Instagram post advertising the event reads: “These are going to be nothing but BEASTS!” A more recent post for an event which was due to take place on 24 September follows the action movie poster format, with Bully headshots placed alongside those of a Rottweiler, a Doberman and several other breeds. To its credit, the writing below reads: “No aggressive dogs, no dogs in heat, clean up after your dogs.” It comes after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced a ban on XL Bullies earlier this month following a spate of attacks across the country. The decision prompted hundreds of protestors to take to the streets in London and Birmingham. They carried placards with messages such as: “Don’t bully our bullies,” and chanted: “Save our bullies”. One person wore a T-shirt which said: “Muzzle Rishi Sunak don’t bully our breed”. While many XL Bully owners feel aggrieved at the ban, blaming bad owners rather than bad dogs, the statistics are stark. Six of the 10 fatal dog attacks recorded in the UK last year were attributed to XL Bullies, while at least three of seven fatal dog attacks this year have been linked to the breed. The posters do have a certain macho charm. But sadly, they don't do much to dispel the common conception that XL Bullies are a little, erm, scary. Who is Carmen Amaya? Google Doodle celebrates iconic flamenco dancer
If you’ve used Google today, you may have noticed the typical logo on the search engine has been jazzed up as it pays tribute to the Spanish Romani flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya. The Google Doodle features bright colours and the animated figure of Amaya in a pose with her hands flared in a way that reflects the traditional style of dance she performed. On 2 November, it marks what would have been Amaya's 110th birthday and was illustrated by the Barcelona-based artist Genie Espinoza. Who is Carmen Amaya? Born on 2 November 1913 in Barcelona, Amaya was born into a family of flamenco dancers. Her father played the guitar and by the time she was 4 years old, she was already dancing in tavernas whilst he played. Her unique and expressive dance style eventually caught the attention of a showrunner, who booked her to perform in prestigious venues such as the Spanish Theatre in Barcelona and Paris’ Palace Theatre. In 1929, when Amaya was in her mid-teens, she began touring Spain and Portugal with some of the world’s most renowned flamenco dancers. While other dancers in the genre focused on the movements of their upper body and arms, Amaya utilised her whole body. In addition, her rapid footwork became a known trademark of her unique style, which drew fans from across Latin America. Amaya settled in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and formed her own flamenco troupe which toured around South America. Next, after more than a decade of touring, she moved to Mexico City. In 1941, Amaya performed in New York where she won over the US President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who later invited her to dance at the White House. Towards the end of her career, she spent time in Hollywood, acting in films such as La Historia de los Tarantos. Over the years, Amaya’s legacy has been recognised by her home country of Spain. She was awarded the Medal of the Tourist Merit of Barcelona and in the city’s Montuic Park, there is a monument and a fountain in her honour.
