Swifties react to snippet of 'Look What You Made Me Do' (Taylor's Version)
She may be releasing 1989 (Taylor's Version) in October, but Taylor Swift is keeping her fans on their toes after a snippet of 'Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor's Version)' was recently teased. The re-recorded version of the singer's first single from her 2017 album reputation can be heard in the trailer for Prime Video U.K.’s “Wilderness.” Starring Jenna Coleman, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ashley Benson and Eric Balfour, the thriller series is set to be released on September 15 on the streaming service platform. Revenge is one of the key themes in Look What You Made Me Do, and it appears this is also a theme in "Wilderness" too, according to the plot synopsis. "Liv becomes the actress starring in Will’s bad dreams after she learns about his betrayal, and her heartbreak is swiftly followed by another emotion: fury." "The couple embark on an American road trip Liv’s fantasized about since she was little, from the Grand Canyon on through Yosemite, before ending up with a hedonistic weekend in Las Vegas. "For Will, it’s a chance to make amends; for Liv, it’s a very different prospect—a landscape where accidents happen all the time. The perfect place to get revenge. Look what he made her do…” Of course, Swifties were quick to react to the preview of the re-recording and pointed out that the original song was released six years ago today (August 24, 2017). Since this preview dropped, some fans have already noticed the differences between the original version and the new (Taylor's Version), and it's received mixed reactions. Elsewhere, others couldn't help but clock the timing of the release given the news that Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato have parted ways with music manager Scooter Braun, who Swift had a public feud with over him acquiring the recordings of her first six albums, which inspired her to re-record her back catalogue. Although a date for the release of reputation (Taylor's Version) has not been confirmed, it's not the first time she's shared a snippet from the re-recorded album. A snippet of the re-recorded track Delicate was used in season two of the the Prime Video show The Summer I Turned Pretty. Tweetdeck down: Major Twitter client not working amid chaos on site
Tweetdeck down: Major Twitter client not working amid chaos on site
TweetDeck, a major Twitter client, has stopped working properly. The app is seemingly a victim of the same problems that have meant that Twitter has not been loading properly in recent days. Over the weekend, Twitter owner Elon Musk announced that the site would be limiting the number of posts that users could see. He indicated that the change was meant to stop bots scraping the tweets posted on the platform, though some have suggested that the problem could have other causes. The site also cut off the ability to read tweets without a login. The changes were described as a “temporary emergency measure” by Mr Musk, who said that bots on the platform had degraded the user experience. It has plunged the site into chaos as users look to deal with the ration on the number of posts, as well as a number of apparently linked problems. One of those issues is that TweetDeck is failing to work properly. Some reported that the app was unable to load tweets at all, while others found that they might initially show and then disappear, or that specific columns were not working. TweetDeck is a power user tool that is used by companies to manage multiple accounts, and by those who look to follow updates on the site through its columns and other tools. While a relatively small number of people may use the site, that includes some of those who post and follow prolifically. It is unclear whether the outage is linked to either the restrictions on the number of posts, or removing the option to view posts without being logged in. Experts have suggested that both changes appear to have been made in a rushed and haphazard way, and so might have accidentally broken other parts of the site. TweetDeck does not have an official status account. While Mr Musk has been giving ongoing updates on the situation on the main Twitter site in recent days, he has not mentioned the outage on TweetDeck. The app has been largely neglected for years. The last major announcement was that the TweetDeck Mac app would be closed down, in June 2022, before Mr Musk took over the site. In the time since, Mr Musk has made changes that have taken other third-party clients offline. Though TweetDeck was founded as an independent service, it has since been bought by and integrated into Twitter, presumably meaning it was able to avoid those initial problems in accessing Twitter’s data. Some rumours have also suggested that TweetDeck could become paid-for, or part of Twitter’s premium “Blue” offering. But the company has offered few official updates on its future at all. Lewis Hamilton signs new Mercedes contract
Lewis Hamilton signs new Mercedes contract
Lewis Hamilton has signed a new contract with Mercedes, extending his stay with the Silver Arrows until the end of 2025. The 38-year-old joined Mercedes from boyhood team McLaren in 2013 and has won six of his seven world titles under the guidance of boss Toto Wolff. George Russell, who joined as Hamilton’s team-mate in 2022, has also extended his deal to the end of 2025. Hamilton has been linked with Ferrari this season but the Brit has finally put all the speculation to bed by putting pen-to-paper on a fresh deal, reported to be in the region of £50m-a-year - a rise of approximately £10m. “We have never been hungrier to win,” Hamilton said after the contract was confirmed. “We have learnt from every success but also every setback. “We dream everyday of being the best and we have dedicated the past decade together to achieving that goal. “Being at the top does not happen overnight or over a short period of time, it takes commitment, hard work and dedication and it’s been an honour to earn our way into the history books with this incredible team. “We continue to chase our dreams, we continue to fight no matter the challenge and we will win again. I’m grateful to the team who have supported me both on and off the track. “Our story isn’t finished, we are determined to achieve more together and we won’t stop until we do.” Hamilton has not won a race since his contentious championship defeat to Max Verstappen at the 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi - and is currently fourth in this season’s Drivers’ Standings. Hamilton won his first world title with McLaren in 2008, before claiming success again in 2014 and 2015. He missed out in a tight title battle with team-mate Nico Rosberg in 2016, before sealing four straight titles from 2017-2020. Hamilton has claimed 82 of his 103 race victories at Mercedes, while 2022 was the first season in his career when he failed to register a victory. He has not won a race since Saudi Arabia in December 2021. More to follow...
