'Escaping Twin Flames Universe' shines a dark light on a site for those seeking soulmates
Is Twin Flames this year's Fyre Festival or NXIVM cult in terms of media coverage and dueling docuseries? It sure feels that way, with competing (or really, complementary) streaming projects kicking off with Amazon's "Desperately Seeking Soulmate: Escaping Twin Flames Universe," to be followed in November by Netflix's more economical "Escaping Twin Flames."

We asked ChatGPT to write a Eurovision song for the contest
We asked ChatGPT to write a Eurovision song for the contest
The Eurovision song contest takes place this weekend in Liverpool after Ukraine won last year. Kalush Orchestra came out on top in 2022 with a huge show of support for their song 'Stefania' - and have since handed over hosting duties to the UK because of the ongoing war with Russia. Speaking of the UK, Mae Muller has been selected to represent the country and will perform her song 'I Wrote A Song' at the final. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter With glory and hosting duties to play for, then, choosing a good song is very important. So who (or what) better to turn to than ChatGPT, everyone's favourite controversial AI system, to write a song for us? That is exactly what we did and here's what the software came up with: Verse 1: Under the bright lights, We stand here tonight, In this moment we unite, With hearts open wide. Chorus: We dance to the beat of our own drum, We sing with passion until the night is done, We are the stars that light up the sky, We are the ones who never say die. Verse 2: We come from every corner, From the north to the south, We share the same desire, To let our voices out. Chorus: We dance to the beat of our own drum, We sing with passion until the night is done, We are the stars that light up the sky, We are the ones who never say die. Bridge: Let's forget about the past, Let's live in the moment that will last, Together we'll make history, And show the world what we can be. Chorus: We dance to the beat of our own drum, We sing with passion until the night is done, We are the stars that light up the sky, We are the ones who never say die. Outro: So let's keep dancing, And keep singing our song, We'll show the world who we are, And prove that we belong. So there you have it - ChatGPT could become the next best singer. After all, we reckon this song is probably better than half the actual entries we will endure this weekend. Have your say in our news democracy. MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan responds after Jordan Peterson labels him a 'Caucasian'
MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan responds after Jordan Peterson labels him a 'Caucasian'
Jordan Peterson has labelled a brown man a “Caucasian”, and has unsurprisingly been slammed for doing so. British-American broadcaster and author, Mehdi Hasan, responded to the outrageous statement made about him by Peterson yesterday. Peterson, the rightwing celebrity psychology professor, posted on X/ Twitter, on 27 August. He said that Hasan was “not really brown. More like a light tan. Just like ‘white’ people.” He added: “Plus you're a Caucasian. By definition. Buddy.” In response, Hasan posted: “Nothing to see here, just Jordan Peterson, a white man, telling me I’m not brown, I’m actually white. Also, how am I a Caucasian, ‘by definition’?” Hasan is a Brit who was born to Indian parents from Hyderabad in the south of the country. They emigrated to the UK before he was born. In 2021, he tweeted that he was "tired of people telling me that I shouldn't take any pride in my south Asian heritage today, or that it has any relevance to my political views". "There's a word for this and it starts with R," he added. Hasan moved to America in 2015 to work as a producer and presenter on news TV. Now, he hosts his own show on MSNBC. It is unclear what definition of the word "Caucasian" Peterson is referring to. The Cambridge Dictionary defines the word as “belonging to the races of people who have skin that is of a pale colour”. Peterson’s bizarre attack on Hasan’s heritage was a response to a monologue by the presenter on his TV show. Hasan criticised white American conservatives’ attitudes in the wake of a mass shooting in which a white person killed three black people with an assault rifle. “Tonight, this brown Muslim is asking the white conservative community to do the same: get your house in order, crack down on the hate preachers... condemn the right of white supremacist ideology,” he said. Peterson did not respond to Hasan’s most recent post. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Ukraine-Russia war live: Kyiv’s huge drone attack as Putin floods frontline with ‘poorly trained troops’
Ukraine-Russia war live: Kyiv’s huge drone attack as Putin floods frontline with ‘poorly trained troops’
The UK’s Ministry of Defence has said Russian president Vladimir Putin is flooding the frontline with “poorly trained troops”, noting “the reluctance of some elements to fight” in the war. In its daily intelligence briefing, the government highlighted that Russia is convicting nearly 100 soldiers a week for refusing to fight, adding there will be around 5,200 convictions this year. “The high rate of convictions demonstrates the poor state of morale in the Russian Army and the reluctance of some elements to fight,” the MoD added. “Although some soldiers have refused to fight and attrition rates remain high, Russia highly likely mitigates their loss by committing a mass of poorly trained soldiers to the frontline.” Meanwhile, an accident involving two Ukrainian helicopters killed six servicemen aboard the aircraft, Ukrainian media reported on Wednesday. The news site Ukrainska Pravda said the incident on Tuesday involved widely used Mi-8 military helicopters and occurred near the town of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, near the front line, but gave no indication of how it occurred.
