R29 Editors Tried Out Kylie Jenner’s “Dream Concealer” — & The Hype Is Real
Finding the perfect concealer is a little like finding the perfect NYC apartment: no matter how many boxes you manage to tick, you’re somehow left longing for more. In-unit washer dryer? A walk-in closet? Heck, maybe even a parking space! (Just kidding on that last one.) But back to concealer. You may have found one that manages to mask your dark circles, but isn’t as luminous as you’d like it to be. Or you find one that nails the finish but ends up settling into fine lines. Well, if there’s one person I could trust to come through with a quality concealer rec, it’s Kylie Jenner.

Maddy Cusack’s spirit was ‘allowed to be broken’ by football before tragic death
Maddy Cusack’s spirit was ‘allowed to be broken’ by football before tragic death
The family of Maddy Cusack say a “thorough external investigation” has been launched into the death of the Sheffield United midfielder after claiming her spirit “was allowed to be broken” by football. Cusack died at her home address in Derbyshire on September 20, aged 27. Derbyshire Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. On Monday night the Maddy Cusack Foundation, launched by the footballer’s family, shared a speech on Instagram and X attributed to Cusack’s mother, Deborah, originally spoken at a memorial service for the former Blades vice-captain in late October. It read: “The saddest and most utterly heartbreaking reason why I am having to stand here and speak to you today is because of football. “From February this year, the indomitable, irrepressible spirit, the spirit called Maddy, the spirit that I had so fearlessly protected was allowed to be broken. Taking her away from me.” The foundation’s post continued: “Those who knew Maddy well will be aware that she had no long-standing mental health issues or troubles. Not that there would be anything to be ashamed of if there were, but there were not. Those that didn’t know her need to know that. “Maddy was a happy-go-lucky, carefree girl with everything to live for and by last Christmas could be described as being at her happiest. This all changed gradually from February this year. “It is no secret, nor should it be, that Sheffield United Football Club have agreed at the request of Maddy’s family to carry out a thorough external investigation into the events that her family believe contributed significantly to her passing at the tender age of 27.” Sheffield United declined to comment when approached by the PA news agency. Prior to her death, Cusack had just started her sixth season with the Blades in the Women’s Championship and was the longest-serving player in their squad, with over 100 appearances, and also worked as a marketing executive for the club. The former England youth international signed a new contract extension with the Blades in July. Young people the biggest users of generative AI, Ofcom study shows
Young people the biggest users of generative AI, Ofcom study shows
Teenagers and children are far more likely than adults to have used generative AI, according to Ofcom’s latest research into the UK’s online habits. The regulator said its latest study showed that four in five (79%) online teenagers aged 13-17 now use generative AI tools – which includes chatbots such as ChatGPT, with 40% of those aged 7-12 also using the technology. Generative AI is capable of creating text, images or other media using learned behaviour. In contrast, Ofcom said only 31% of adult internet users had used the technology – and among the 69% who had never used it, 24% did not know what it was. As online safety regulator, we’re already working to build an in-depth understanding of the opportunities and risks of new and emerging technologies, so that innovation can thrive, while the safety of users is protected Yih-Choung Teh, Ofcom OpenAI’s ChatGPT was named the most widely used generative AI tool by those in the study, with 23% of those aged 16 and above saying they used it. When asked why they use the technology, the majority of those aged 16 and over said for fun (58%), a third said they used it for work, and a quarter said they used it to help with their studies. In addition, 22% said they had used it for seeking advice. Yih-Choung Teh, Ofcom’s group director of strategy and research, said: “Getting rapidly up to speed with new technology comes as second nature to Gen Z, and generative AI is no exception. “While children and teens are driving its early adoption, we’re also seeing older internet users exploring its capabilities, both for work and for leisure.” “We also recognise that some people are concerned about what AI means for the future. “As online safety regulator, we’re already working to build an in-depth understanding of the opportunities and risks of new and emerging technologies, so that innovation can thrive, while the safety of users is protected.” Elsewhere in Ofcom’s study, it said it had found that more than a fifth of those aged 8-17 had a social media profile with a false age of 18 or over, putting them at greater risk of encountering potentially harmful content. It also showed that YouTube had replaced Facebook as the most visited platform by UK adults, according to data gathered during Ofcom’s sample month of May 2023. The report also showed that two-thirds of adults reported they had seen or experienced potential online harms in the previous four weeks, with over a third saying this had appeared on their personalised social media feed, where content is tailored to users by a platform’s algorithm. White House attempts to explain Biden’s ‘God save the Queen’ remark
White House attempts to explain Biden’s ‘God save the Queen’ remark
When President Joe Biden on Friday closed out a speech to gun control advocates by exclaiming, “God save the Queen, man,” confused members of the White House press corps wondered what, exactly, the president meant. Was he speaking of Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September 2022 after a full seven decades on the throne of the United Kingdom and 14 other commonwealth reams — the longest reign of any British monarch and of any female monarch in recorded history? Or was he referring to Queen Camilla, who in May was crowned alongside her husband, King Charles III? Perhaps he was not referring to any British queen, but was instead speaking of the leader who took Elizabeth II’s place as the longest-serving European monarch, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark? According to the White House, the correct answer is: None of the above. Deputy Press Secretary Olivia Dalton clarified the situation slightly late on Friday by telling reporters who were travelling with the president that Mr Biden was merely “commenting to someone in the crowd”. Ms Dalton did not add anything further on who the president was responding to or what prompted the strange remark. Yet Mr Biden, a proud Irishman who was accused of harbouring anti-British sentiments after he followed the example of previous American presidents by not personally attending the 6 May coronation, has previously expressed the same pro-British sentiment at a key moment in recent US history. When, as vice president, he presided over the January 2017 counting of electoral votes which confirmed former president Donald Trump’s surprise 2016 election victory, Mr Biden made the exact same remark in jest to then-House Speaker Paul Ryan after gavelling the counting session to a close.
