Arsenal continue winning streak with convincing victory at Brighton
Arsenal made it five consecutive wins in the Women’s Premier League and six in all competitions with a convincing 3-0 victory over Brighton. Stina Blackstenius opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a shot into the top left-hand corner of the net before Caitlin Foord doubled their advantage with 10 minutes to go in front of a record crowd of 4,921 at a sold-out Broadfield Stadium. Frida Maanum sealed the three points in stoppage time with her first goal of the season after being teed up by Cloe Lacasse, leaving the second-placed Gunners three points behind leaders Chelsea in the table. Bristol City twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with fellow strugglers Everton at Walton Hall Park. Martina Piemonte put the hosts in front just five minutes into the contest but Amy Rodgers slammed home from inside the area just before the interval to bring the scores level. Everton retook the lead in the 57th minute courtesy of Megan Finnigan and looked on course for only their second win of the WSL season when Amalie Thestrup dinked home from close range with eight minutes remaining to earn rock-bottom City a share of the spoils. Tottenham extended their unbeaten run to six matches with a 1-1 draw against Leicester at the King Power Stadium. Leicester went ahead in the 18th minute when Janice Cayman received a pass from Hannah Cain before firing home but were pegged back when Celin Bizet latched onto a through ball and finished coolly. Rachel Daly scored a brilliant stoppage-time winner as Aston Villa came out on top in a five-goal thriller to beat West Ham 3-2 and double their points tally for the campaign. Viviane Asseyi’s penalty put West Ham a goal to the good but Villa turned the game on its head through Anna Patten and Adriana Leon. West Ham thought they had snatched a point when Lisa Evans drilled home from outside the area with 10 minutes to go. But, the decisive moment came two minutes into added time when England star Daly smashed into the top corner to snatch all three points for Villa. Taylor Swift fans are convinced Harry Styles will feature on 1989 (Taylor's Version) 'From The Vault' track
Taylor Swift recently announced 1989 (Taylor's Version) will be released on October 27, with five new "From The Vault" tracks - and many Swifties are convinced Harry Styles is set to feature on a song. In an Instagram post breaking the news, Swift described the five never-heard-before vault songs as "so insane". "To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 'From The Vault' tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!" she wrote. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Previously, Swift has commented on her decision to release songs "From The Vault" by saying: “One thing I’ve been loving about these From The Vault songs is that they’ve never been heard, so I can experiment, play, and even include some of my favorite artists.” Both Swifties and Harries alike have been posting about how iconic it would be for Styles to feature on Swift's 1989 track called 'Style' which is speculated to be about him after the pair briefly dated between 2012 and 2013. Such is the demand, AI covers of the pop stars singing 'Style' as a duet have been popping up on TikTok and have received millions of views. @mayksounds Replying to @kaylee <3 did someone ask for Style? #style #taylorswift #taylorsversion #taylorswiftedit #taylornation #harrystyles #harrystylesvids #harrystylesedit #aicover One fan wrote: "This would absolutely be the song of the century. Record breaking. Iconic. Legendary. Just everything." "This would be the best thing to ever happen to me tbh," another person said. Someone else added: "AS A CHILD OF DIVORCE I NEEEEED IT." "If we all talk about it enough we will speak it into existence," a fourth person commented. @dvnnisimone mom & dad pls do this collab one time for your babies ??? #taylorswift #harrystyles #taylorsversion #styletaylorswift #harryshouse #swifttok #taylornation #1989taylorsversion @multirose96 #stitch with @Nika Lee its clowning hours babe get in the car ? #harrystyles #taylorswift #taylorsversion #haylor @maddiecastellano Style (Haylors Version)!!!!! Think about it!!!! Even my husband is saying he wants it!!! #taylorswift #harrystyles #haylor #taylornation It wouldn't be the first time since Swift has collaborated with an ex after Taylor Lautner starred alongside Joey King in her music video for her Speak Now (Taylor's Version)(From The Vault) track 'I Can See You'. While Swifties know the singer likes to drop hints or Easter eggs about future music, some have pointed out she had similar dance moves to Styles when performing the 1989 track on her Eras Tour. The two exes also appear to be on good terms as they were spotted chatting at the 2021 and 2023 Grammy Awards. So there perhaps could be a collaboration on the cards, we'll have to wait until October 27 to find out... Have your say in our news democracy. ‘We let you down’: Peloton apologises after issues with Thanksgiving ride
Peloton has apologised to its customers after technical issues kept them from joining its special Thanksgiving ride. The rides had been held to break the Guinness World Records for the largest live streamed cycling and running classes. But they also had the effect of breaking Peloton’s systems, with riders unable to join the “Turkey Burn” class with instructor Robin Arzón for the first 20 minutes. Peloton’s relatively new chief executive, Barry McCarthy, apologised for the experience on the company’s official Facebook page. “We set out to create an amazing annual Turkey Burn Ride experience, and we let you down,” he wrote on the page. The number of riders “overwhelmed our technical infrastructure”, he said. “I know for many of you, this has become an annual tradition, and we owe you the best possible Member experience,” he wrote. “On behalf of the team, we apologise.” Despite the issues, Peloton was able to set the records for the largest live streamed cycling and running class. The company brought in Guinness World Records officials to verify the count, and were given the record for the ”Most viewers of a static cycling lesson live stream on a Bespoke platform”, as well as for running. The cycling class had 27,550 live participants, a spokesperson said. That was lower than the number that had been seen on the leaderboard, though it is not clear whether the discrepancy was the result of the technical problems. Despite the official recognition, the ride and run is not actually Peloton’s biggest live ride: 2021 and 2020 saw more, with the latter seemingly setting the record at more than 50,000 people, according to Peloton news website Pelobuddy. Peloton saw rapid growth through 2020 and 2021, spurred in large part by the move to work out at home during lockdowns. But it has experienced a number of issues since, including recalls of its bikes and seemingly lower interest as people head back to gyms. It has lost around 80 per cent of its share price value since it was listed towards the end of 2019. And its stock has fallen almost 97 per cent since its record highs in late 2020.
