Wendy’s announces free chicken nuggets for the rest of 2023
Wendy’s announces free chicken nuggets for the rest of 2023
Wendy’s will be offering a free treat to help people get through the middle of the week for the rest of the year. Starting on Wednesday 8 November, the fast food chain will be giving away free packs of six chicken nuggets with any purchase on every Wednesday until 2024, according to a press release. To get your free treat, the chain is asking customers to redeem the offer using their app or website, or they can also scan the digital Wendy’s Rewards offer code in their respective Wendy’s restaurant. This offer is only available through the next eight weeks. The fast food chain is also offering a special deal for Uber Eats customers. If they purchase a 10-piece pack of chicken nuggets between 6 November and 12 November, they will get a second one for free. Another deal is available for DoorDash customers too. If they add a Dr Pepper to their order between 16 November and 22 November, they will be able to earn $5 off an order that is $20 or higher. This isn’t the first time the brand has decided to give away free items. On 27 October, when Taylor Swift released the re-recording of her album titled “1989”, Wendy’s gave away fries in all sizes to celebrate the album when customers purchased a small Frosty or larger using the app. Wendy’s will be bringing back a fan-favourite menu item just in time for the holiday season in addition to all of their deals. Starting on 14 November, the restaurant will bring back the peppermint Frosty that was first added to the menu last year. When initially released, this was the first-ever holiday-flavoured Frosty the chain had added to its menu. With this new seasonal menu item comes the end of their current seasonal menu item, the pumpkin spice Frosty, which has been on the menu since 12 September. Wendy’s won’t be the only fast food restaurant ringing in the holiday season with free food. Dunkin’ Donuts also recently announced that they would be giving out free doughnut on Wednesdays from 1 November to 31 December. Reward members can earn their free sweet treats with the purchase of any drink. PGMOL condemns ‘abhorrent’ abuse of referee Anthony Taylor at Budapest airport
PGMOL condemns ‘abhorrent’ abuse of referee Anthony Taylor at Budapest airport
Refereeing body PGMOL says it is appalled by “unjustified and abhorrent” abuse directed at Anthony Taylor after video footage emerged of him being accosted by angry fans at Budapest airport. Taylor and his family can be seen trying to evade a mob, who were shouting at him as he travelled home after refereeing Wednesday night’s Europa League final between Roma and Sevilla in the Hungarian capital. The Premier League official was criticised for his performance in the final by Roma boss Jose Mourinho during his post-match press conference after the Italian side lost on penalties to Sevilla. And in video footage which later emerged on social media, the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager is seen gesticulating at Taylor and officials in the stadium car park and heard saying “disgrace”. Following the incident at the airport, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) said in a statement on Thursday evening: “PGMOL is aware of videos circulating on social media showing Anthony Taylor and his family being harassed and abused at Budapest Airport. “We are appalled at the unjustified and abhorrent abuse directed at Anthony and his family as he tries to make his way home from refereeing the UEFA Europa League final. “We will continue to provide our full support to Anthony and his family.” UEFA is awaiting Taylor’s reports before deciding whether to take action against Mourinho for his rant. Taylor booked Mourinho during the game, which finished 1-1 after extra time before Sevilla sealed their seventh Europa League triumph by winning 4-1 in a penalty shoot-out. Tempers simmered on and off the pitch in a disappointing final, with 13 players shown yellow cards, seven of them to Roma players, while fourth official Michael Oliver had his work cut out to keep control of both dug-outs. The game was littered with delays, with a total of 25 minutes’ stoppage time added to the 120 minutes of playing time. Moment Mario Fernandez arrested for allegedly orchestrating Microsoft exec Jared Bridegan’s murder
Moment Mario Fernandez arrested for allegedly orchestrating Microsoft exec Jared Bridegan’s murder
Footage of the arrest of Mario Fernandez, the man accused of orchestrating the murder of Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan, has been released by the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Mr Fernandez, a landlord, is accused of hiring one of his tenants, Henry Tenon, to ambush and kill Mr Bridegan near Jacksonville, Florida in February 2022. Mr Tenon reportedly admitted to police that he pulled the trigger the night Mr Bridegan was killed. The release of the arrest footage comes in the wake of a third arrest in the murder case. Mr Bridegan's ex-wife, Shanna Gardner-Fernandez — who is married to Mr Fernandez — was also arrested and charged with first degree murder. Mr Bridegan and Ms Gardner-Fernandez were embroiled in a contentious divorce proceeding prior to his death. In the recently released bodycamera footage obtained by News4Jax, Mr Fernandez can be seen sitting in handcuffs in the back of a pickup truck speaking with police investigators. He is then placed in the back of a patrol car. Mr Fernandez was arrested in March. In the footage, he can be heard reminiscing about using beepers and remembering phone numbers, laughing about being short, and asking about how deputies deal with tall people who are placed in the back of cramped patrol cars. He is facing first degree murder, conspiracy, and child abuse charges. He faces a potential death penalty if convicted. On the night of the shooting, Mr Bridegan was returning from his ex-wife's house near Jacksonville after dropping off two of his children. On his way home, he found a tire in the road blocking his path. When Mr Bridegan stepped out of his vehicle, he was shot — allegedly by Mr Tenon — and killed. Bullets hit the interior of Mr Bridegan's car, narrowly missing his toddler from another marriage. After the shooting Mr Bridegan's ex-wife said she was "devastated" by the murder and insisted she had nothing to do with his violent death. A grand jury indicted her on Thursday, after which he was taken into custody in Washington state. She moved out of Florida after Mr Bridegan was murdered. Ms Gardner-Fernandez's family issued a statement in the wake of her arrest. “Words cannot accurately express the depth of our sadness. Family is our top priority. We love our daughter and are focused on supporting her and our entire family as we help our grandchildren navigate this difficult and very confusing time," her parents, Shelli and Sterling Gardner, said. "For their sake and all involved, we caution against further speculation and request privacy as the legal process runs its course. In the meantime, we are thankful for the continued support, thoughtfulness and prayers being so generously shared by friends and loved ones.” Read More Jared Bridegan’s widow ‘not surprised’ by ex-wife’s arrest over Microsoft executive’s murder plot Microsoft exec Jared Bridegan was shot dead in a chilling ambush.
