FIA reveal results of 2022 F1 cost cap process
FIA reveal results of 2022 F1 cost cap process
The FIA have announced that all 10 Formula 1 teams have complied with the cost cap in 2022 – meaning no repeat of the shenanigans which overshadowed the latter stages of last season. Red Bull were found guilty of an overspend of the 2021 budget cap, the same year in which Max Verstappen claimed his first drivers’ title. Christian Horner’s team were fined £6m and docked 10 per cent of their car development time after a long, drawn-out process. Yet this year, the FIA have confirmed that no teams have fallen foul of the financial regulations and detailed that their analysis included an “extensive check of any non-F1 activities... which comprised of multiple on-site visits to team facilities.” The news will come as a relief to all teams, particularly in light of rising inflation and freight costs which led Horner to suggest earlier this year that as many as six teams could’ve broken the cost cap. The statement in full reads: “The FIA confirms that its Cost Cap Administration has now completed the review of the Reporting Documentation submitted by each Competitor that participated in the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship in respect of the 2022 Full Year Reporting Period ending on 31 December 2022. “The FIA Cost Cap Administration has issued certificates of compliance to all of the ten Competitors. “The review has been an intensive and thorough process, beginning with a detailed analysis of the documentation submitted by the competitors. “Additionally, there has been an extensive check of any non-F1 activities undertaken by the teams, which comprised multiple on-site visits to team facilities and careful auditing procedures to assess compliance with the Financial Regulations. “The FIA Cost Cap Administration notes that all Competitors acted at all times in a spirit of good faith and cooperation throughout the process. “The FIA also notes that the Financial Regulations are essential to the long-term financial stability of the sport, and that they will continue to be developed and refined based on the findings of each review process both in terms of the regulations themselves, which are written and approved under the FIA Formula 1 governance process, and the way in which they are enforced and policed. “The FIA has made and will continue to make significant investments in this department for the collective benefit of the sport.” Read More F1 2023 race schedule: When is the Singapore Grand Prix? Chelsea loan goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to Real Madrid
Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has completed a season-long loan move to Real Madrid. The 28-year-old Spain international, who joined the Blues in a £71.6million switch from Athletic Bilbao in August 2018, is contracted at the Bernabeu until June next year. Real needed a new keeper after Thibaut Courtois was ruled out for the majority of the season with an ACL injury. A statement on Real’s official website said: “Real Madrid CF and Chelsea FC have agreed on the loan of the player Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is linked to the club this season, until June 30, 2024. “In his five seasons at Chelsea, he has won one Champions League, one Club World Cup, one European Super Cup and one Europa League. “This year, he has received the award for the best save in the Premier League for the 2022-2023 season. “Kepa is an international with the Spanish team, with which he has been proclaimed champion of the 2023 Nations League. With Spain, he also won the U19 European Championship in 2012.” Kepa will be formally presented as a Real Madrid player on Tuesday afternoon. His return to Spain follows the arrival of 25-year-old compatriot Robert Sanchez at Stamford Bridge. Sanchez made a £25million switch from Brighton earlier this month and started Sunday’s 1-1 home draw with Liverpool as youngster Lucas Bergstrom provided the back-up on the bench. Kepa has 163 Chelsea appearances under his belt and was handed the captaincy last season. However, he has become surplus to requirements under new boss Mauricio Pochettino and will now work for a season under former Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti. A statement on the club’s official website said: “Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has completed a season-long loan move to LaLiga side Real Madrid. “The club wish him well for the season ahead in Madrid, where he will work with former Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti.”

California equestrian accused of trying to hire hitman to kill her husband during divorce
A California equestrian was arrested for allegedly attempting multiple times to hire a hitman to kill her estranged husband. Tatyana Remley, 42, is accused of first offering a friend $2m to murder Mark Remley, and last month she allegedly met with an undercover police officer and asked him to kill her husband. She has been charged with solicitation of murder after meeting with an undercover detective last month and allegedly gave specific details on how she wanted her husband killed and his body disposed of, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Office. Ms Remley came into contact with police after the sheriff’s office responded to a house fire on 2 July. She was arrested on firearms offences after she was found to be in possession of three guns and ammunition. Prosecutors say that in the month after the fire police received information that she was trying to hire someone to kill her husband. During a 2 August meeting with the undercover detective she brought three firearms and money as a downpayment for the killing, say officials. She is currently being held without bail at the Las Colinas Detention Facility in Santee, California and pleaded not guilty at a hearing last month, according to The Coast News. Solicitation of murder can carry a sentence of up to nine years in California and the firearms felony charge could add another year. The Remleys ran the production of an acrobatic equestrian show called Valitar at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in 2012, which was supposed to run for 45 performances but was cancelled after just a few. The couple, who lived in Del Mar, near San Diego, married in 2011 and have filed for divorce several times over the years, according to the outlet. The couple were in the process of divorcing when the alleged murder plots were undertaken. She is due back in court on 6 October.
