Netflix's upcoming docuseries to take a deep dive into Jeff Ayan's organization 'Escaping Twin Flames'

A court in Moscow on Wednesday handed a former state TV journalist a 8 1/2-year prison term in absentia for protesting Russia's war in Ukraine, the latest in a months-long crackdown against dissent that has intensified since Moscow's invasion 20 months ago. Marina Ovsyannikova was charged with spreading false information about the Russian army, a criminal offense under a law adopted shortly after the Kremlin sent troops to Ukraine. She held a picket in the Russian capital in July 2022, and held a poster that said “(Russian President Vladimir) Putin is a killer. His soldiers are fascists. 352 children have been killed (in Ukraine). How many more children need to die for you to stop?” Ovsyannikova, who until March 2022 worked at for Russia's state-run Channel One, was detained and placed under house arrest, but managed to escape to France with her daughter. Russian authorities put her on a wanted list and prosecuted and tried her in absentia. In March, 2022 Ovsyannikova made international headlines after appearing behind the anchor of an evening Channel One news broadcast with a poster that said “Stop the war, don’t believe the propaganda, they are lying to you here.” She quit her job at the channel, was charged with disparaging the Russian military and fined 30,000 rubles ($270 at the time). Thousands of Russians have been fined and hundreds have faced criminal charges over publicly speaking out or protesting against the war in the last 20 months. The Kremlin has used legislation outlawing criticism of what it insists on calling a “special military operation” to target opposition figures, human rights activists and independent media. Top Kremlin critics have been handed lengthy prison terms, rights groups have been forced to shut down, independent news sites were blocked and independent journalists have left the country, fearing prosecution. It's always interesting to see what actors have been up to while working on a for-the-ages show like "Succession," which sets a high bar for what comes next. Two low-key examples arrive this week, with Sarah Snook anchoring "Run Rabbit Run," a creepy little macabre Australian thriller, while Brian Cox is squandered by the more disposable "Prisoner's Daughter."

The TikToker behind the now-viral 'Love Surge' video posted a tearful response to the onslaught of mocking taking place on social media. Lilianna Wilde posted a TikTok last month of her husband having what she labelled a "love surge". The video is well known now, with it having over 5 million views on TikTok, and opens with Wilde telling viewers "want see the cringiest most couple thing ever?" whilst her husband, Sean Kolar, stands behind her. Kolar, who is seen shaking, proceeds to wrap around Wilde until both are shaking "with the electricity of love". This, she tells viewers is a "love surge". Once social media found the video, mocking ensued, with some saying they would "rather die alone", whilst others imitated the original video. However, Wilde has since posted an emotional update on TikTok, highlighting how cruel the internet can be and the effect it can have on the person it's directed towards. "I didn't expect like, that much hate on the video," Wilde begins saying. "A lot of the duets and stitches are really funny and I laughed a lot, I can take a joke and I can laugh at myself." @liliannawilde i was doing really well and laughing a lot and then just hit a wall last night and everything got really overwhelming. and again, i’m not taking about some of the really funny duets/stitches, that’s part of posting on the internet and i accept that. what I’m heartbroken over are the really awful things people are wishing on Sean and I. please think before you type, I’m very very lucky that my offline life is so wonderful that I can look away, but some people aren’t so lucky and for their sake please consider what you write. #lovesurge But she went on to say that the tone of comments began to take a turn. "Some of the comments got really really mean, and they were like wishing that someone got cheated on [...] or wishing DV [domestic violence] on me or to like unalive myself," Wilde said in the heartbreaking video. "If the goal was to make me sad, you do it, you won," Wilde tells viewers whilst holding back tears. She goes on to clarify that she's not talking about the "hilarious stitches" but rather "the really mean, hurtful comments." "I think a lot of times people type something online and they don't see the result of it and this is the result," she shared, hopefully making some reconsider what they say and post online. Many took to the comments of the video to send some love Wilde's way. "People can be really mean and sometimes it's hard to just ignore them. Love surge is super cringe but it's special. Don't let them take that," wrote one user. Another wrote, "I genuinely thought that was such a sweet video. Manchester City and Real Madrid fought out a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday. They now head to the Etihad next week with all to play for. Here, the PA news agency looks at what lies in store in the return clash. Does home advantage now give City the edge? City will certainly feel confident heading back to the Etihad with the tie level. They have won all their Champions League games there this season, including beating RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich 7-0 and 3-0 respectively in the knockout stages, and have lost just once in the Premier League. Manager Pep Guardiola said on Tuesday that City “feel comfortable with our people” and midfielder Jack Grealish went as far as to say the team feel “unstoppable” at home. Yet the tie could still go either way couldn’t it? Of course it could. City played very well at the Bernabeu and the draw was the least they deserved, but they still gave up chances. Both goalkeepers made excellent saves at various points and the scoreline could easily have been different. City will be well aware Real, with the likes of Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo in the side, are more than good enough to take chances next time. How much will Real’s big-game experience matter? As 14-time champions and holders, Real showed last year, when they were not favourites in any of their knockout ties prior to the final, the weight of their reputation can be a huge factor, as City discovered first hand. After coming away from the intimidating Bernabeu – the scene of last year’s capitulation – with a share of the spoils this time, however, City will hope to have negated this. They can now look back on 12 months ago positively, when they beat Real in the first leg of their semi-final at home. They also saw off Real in 2020 and will believe they can do so again. What possible changes to the line-ups could there be? As both sides have had a good look at each other now, either manager could try to alter things to make a difference. City had some good options on the bench at the Bernabeu that could give them some variety next time, notably in the attacking threat of Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez and playmaker Phil Foden, all of whom have impressed at different stages this season. Real’s tactics bordered on the rough at times and they could toughen up further and really try to disrupt City’s flow with Eder Militao available again after suspension. Aurelien Tchouameni is another defensive option. Could games this weekend affect the picture? In City’s case, possibly so. They have to travel to Everton on Sunday for what is likely to be a tense occasion. That game carries huge significance at both ends of the table. City need to press home their advantage in the title race, while Everton are scrapping for survival. Easing off could cost City as they look to maintain their challenge on three fronts. Real, by contrast, are out of contention for the LaLiga title and could rest a number of players for their clash with Getafe on Saturday. They will also have an extra day’s recovery before the game. Manchester United are in advanced talks with Atalanta over a deal for Rasmus Hojlund, with the Premier League club negotiating how much of the fee will be made up of add-ons. United are getting closer to an agreement for the No 9, and initial expectations that the price could be as high as £80million have been tempered. There is now hope that a deal can be struck for around £60m. That would bring a successful summer of recruitment in under budget and compliant with Financial Fair Play, with sales potentially allowing the purchase of Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat in midfield. Contact has already been made there, and the basics of a deal have been set up. United are now much more advanced in their talks with Hojlund, 20, who has agreed personal terms and is excited about the prospect of going to Old Trafford this summer. That does not necessarily mean the signing will be imminent, however, as the nature of negotiations over intricacies and terms is expected to take time. Top wrestling star CM Punk, real name Phil Brooks has been fired by All Elite Wrestling following a fight with fellow wrestler Jack Perry at the All In show at Wembley Stadium last Sunday. The 44-year-old returned to AEW earlier this year after overcoming an injury but it came under a cloud of controversy following his comments and a subsequent fight 12 months ago with The Elite at All Out 2022. Punk, as the top star in the company, was given his own show 'Collision' upon his return and began a storyline where he was declaring himself the 'Real World Champion.' However, things reportedly turned sour upon Punk's return with reports of several disagreements breaking out between him and other wrestlers including Jack Perry, who made a thinly veiled comment about Punk at Wembley on Sunday which sparked an incident backstage between the pair. Now in a statement released by AEW, the company has confirmed that his contract has been terminated: "All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has terminated the wrestler and employment agreements between Philip Brooks (CM Punk) and AEW with cause, effective immediately. The termination was confirmed today by Tony Khan, CEO, General Manager and Head of Creative of AEW. "The termination follows a weeklong internal investigation of an incident occurring backstage at AEW – All In London on Sunday, August 27. Following the investigation, the AEW Discipline Committee met and later convented with outside legal counsel before making a unanimous recommendation to Khan that CM Punk be terminated with cause." In addition, AEW's co-founder and owner Tony Khan said: "Phil played an important role within AEW and I thank him for his contributions. The termination of his AEW contracts with cause is ultimately my decision, and mine alone. Of course, I wish I didn’t have to share this news, which may come as a disappointment to many of our fans. Nevertheless, I am making the decision in the best interests of the many amazing people who make AEW possible every week – our talent, staff, venue operators and many others whose efforts are unsung but essential to bringing our fans great shows on television and at arenas and stadiums throughout the world." Talk has immediately sparked debate as to what Punk will do next with many speculating that he could return to WWE, a company he walked out on in 2014. Earlier this year, the current World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins was asked for his thoughts on Punk returning to his former employer. Speaking to journalist Nick Hausman, Rollins said: "Philly Phil, stay away. Stay away, you cancer, get away from me forever. I don't like Phil. I don't like Phil, he's a jerk. Did we just figure that out? Everybody in the room is like, ‘did he say that?' Yeah, he's a jerk. Come on. We figured it out over there, we knew it over here. I don't want him back. Go do something else. Bye bye.
