Girl reduced to tears as single father dresses as her mom for Mother's Day
A Thai father has received warm messages for his gesture to his adoptive daughter by turning up dressed as a mum for a Mother's Day event at school so she wouldn't feel left out. In the heartwarming clip, Pratchaya Tadeebu can be seen wearing a dress and wig as he surprised his 15-year-old daughter Cream so that she wouldn't be alone for the Mother’s Day ceremony in school on August 12. Overwhelmed with emotion, Cream can be seen bowing down to Tadeebu before hugging him tightly for his meaningful Mother’s Day gesture. The clip has since gone viral with over 395,000 views, and a number of comments from people praising the father and sending messages of support to the father and daughter. One person said: "What a great blessing for this relationship! you both deserve the best, best dad." "My tears hmmm proud of you Best Dad to this kid," another person said. Someone else added: "I finally see there's such thing called loving father." @joey_kp "แม่" ฉันก็เป็นให้แกได้555 After surprising his daughter, Tadeebu spoke to a local Thailand news outlet about why he decided to do this. "Even though I am a single father and her stepfather, I always tell Cream that she is my daughter, and I love her like my own biological child,” he said. “I will do my best as both father and mother in order to take care of my girl.” He added that when the idea of dressing as a woman came up, he "felt no embarrassment at all," and added: "We always find ways to have fun together." Newcastle boss Eddie Howe believes more VAR ‘would ruin the game’
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe believes more VAR ‘would ruin the game’
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has warned more VAR would “ruin” football after finding himself on the wrong end of a controversial decision. Football’s lawmakers are considering options to extend the system’s use at the same time as a debate over its effectiveness in its current form rages on. The Magpies were denied a Champions League victory at Paris St Germain on Tuesday after Polish referee Szymon Marciniak was asked to review a decision not to award a penalty for handball against Tino Livramento by VAR official Thomas Kwiatkowski and changed his mind to allow Kylian Mbappe to level in stoppage time. Asked if he would like to see more or less VAR, Howe said: “I’d like to see less VAR. “I don’t have an issue with offsides because that is as close as it can be to being right, whether you agree with the decision, the lines give you a black and white yes or no. The rest, I’m not in favour. “I still think it’s just another person’s opinion against another person’s opinion. It’s very subjective. I’d like to see less. I definitely wouldn’t want to see more because I think it would ruin the game.” Kwiatkowski had been due to oversee Wednesday night’s Real Sociedad versus Red Bull Salzburg game in the same competition, but was stood down, a decision which brought Howe, who revealed the club have contacted UEFA to seek clarity over the penalty award, little comfort. He said: “That for me, with VAR is an issue – not enough power is given to the on-field decision, which in this case was correct. “I still believe – I’m old-fashioned in this – that the on-field decision should be given a little bit more strength because the referee is there, he’s feeling the game, he’s managing the game in the middle and I think that is worth something.” I definitely wouldn't want to see more because I think it would ruin the game Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe Howe’s comments came as he prepared his players for Saturday evening’s Premier League clash with Manchester United at St James’ Park still contemplating a lengthy injury list, but with no new additions after an attritional night at the Parc des Princes and with hopes high that midfielders Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff will be sidelined for weeks rather than months. Newcastle have lost just one of their last five encounters in all competitions with the Red Devils, who also suffered Champions League disappointment 24 hours later when they squandered a 3-1 lead at Galatasaray to draw 3-3, although Erik ten Hag’s side have won five of their last six league games. Asked if he and his players could use their burning sense of injustice from Paris as added motivation, Howe said: “I always want that sense that we are against everybody outside of Newcastle when we play. I think that helps us. “That is a good mentality to have, that we are competing against everybody else. It’s certainly served us well to this point and if it helps any individual players, then great.” Read More Min Woo Lee continues fine form in hunt for home double On this day in 2021: Johanna Konta retires from tennis Unai Emery eager to top group after Aston Villa reach ECL knockout stages You’ve got to dream big: Lewis Dunk eyes Europa League glory with Brighton David Moyes urges West Ham to finish the job and top Group A Five bad weeks do not define a team – England’s Ben Duckett

Jurgen Klopp: Miracles happen but a top-four finish is still out of our hands
Jurgen Klopp: Miracles happen but a top-four finish is still out of our hands
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits his side “were around when miracles happened”, but accepts their destiny is not in their hands this time when it comes to Champions League qualification. A month ago the club were in eighth, 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United, but six successive victories have propelled them to fifth and only a point behind their rivals, who have a match in hand. It was suggested to Klopp his squad have performed remarkable comebacks before, not least when overturning a 3-0 first-leg deficit to beat Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League they won in 2019. They also came from a seemingly impossible position in the Premier League in 2021 when they they made a late run into the top four, registering eight wins and two draws in their final 10 matches – which included goalkeeper Alisson Becker scoring a 90th-minute winner at West Brom – having been completely out of the running in March. “It is not that we mention it but everyone who was involved in these moments will never forget it in our entire lives,” said Klopp. “That means it is part of us and, you are right, we were around when miracles happened, that is true, but it was then still in our hands. “We had to score against West Brom and we had to win against Barcelona. Now we have to win but that does not mean anything changes because the other teams could win all their games. “I knew weeks ago it was completely out of sight, I couldn’t see it at all, but that did not mean we would not try to get closer. That’s the only thing we did, we got closer.” Klopp recalls Liverpool being in the position of the team being chased in his second full season in 2017-18, and he knows it is not easy for the clubs in possession of the qualification places. Newcastle and United would be happy if we would not be there any more, but still it is more likely they will do it Jurgen Klopp However, he does not believe their recent run, coupled with recent defeats for third-placed Newcastle and United, has been able to exert that much pressure on their top-four rivals. “I am pretty sure we were in a situation like that years ago. I think Chelsea was winning all the time behind us so we had to win all the games,” he said. “It’s not comfortable but in the end we made it anyway. Newcastle and United would be happy if we would not be there any more, but still it is more likely they will do it. “I respect that. If they finish the season above us, they deserve it and that’s how I see it.” Forward Roberto Firmino is set to return to training next week ahead of what could be his final Anfield appearance. The Brazil international is leaving when his contract expires at the end of the season but has missed the last five matches with a muscle problem. With Liverpool having only one more home game, against Aston Villa next Saturday, there was a chance the 31-year-old would not get to say his goodbyes on the pitch. But Klopp raised hopes Firmino could be in his squad for an emotional send-off. “I saw Bobby in training yesterday and it looks like pretty much he is nearly there, but I don’t think he will be in for the weekend,” said the Reds manager. “If I go out of here and he will be in the session, I would be surprised. “I assume that we start with him team training-wise after the Leicester game.” Read More Charity boss speaks out over ‘traumatic’ encounter with royal aide Ukraine war’s heaviest fight rages in east - follow live We’re excited – Eddie Howe says Newcastle are not fearful of top-four battle Kitman Chris Marsh overcomes illness to help support Coventry’s promotion push Premier League and PFA announce new five-year partnership
