Drake follows HSTikkyTokky after Miami brawl with Zherka
YouTubers Zherka and HSTikkyTokky began fighting in the streets of Miami after their feud took a violent turn. The pair have been at each other's throats for a while, but things suddenly escalated after they dragged each other into the road when a shouting match turned into something more sinister. Earlier this year, Zherka got into a fight in public after he was confronted by a viewer who accused him of being racist. From the footage that was captured on both their livestreams, Zherka appeared to push HS and take a swing at him. However, he was quickly forced to the ground, with his shirt torn off in the process by HS. Many viewers found humour in the fact that whilst Zherka started the fight, he hit the ground first, being brand the "loser" of the exchange. The two of them then dragged each other into a busy street whilst a car tried to pull away. Traffic begun to build up after cars were unable to get past the fight. However, the noise of car horns eventually got the pair to stand up and stop fighting. Later on social media, Zherka said he dislocated his arm shortly after the fight. Controversial streamer Adin Ross told his fans online after the fight that Drake had texted him about the feud. "Bro, this dude HS is my newest favourite streamer," Drake said according to Ross. "This sh*t is f*cking hilarious. He got my respect. I used to think -- I used to wonder if he was p*ssy, but he stood tall." A new accent from 'Antarctica' has been discovered by scientists
Antarctica might be the only continent on Earth with no natural human habitation, but it’s emerged that an “Antarctica accent” is very much a thing. Despite having no locals, thousands of scientists have made up an ever-changing population in research stations over the years. The continent is so isolated and the level of interaction between researchers is so intense, that a common accent is beginning to emerge there despite people coming from different parts of the world. At its busiest points in the year during the summer, Antarctica is home to around 5,000 people. Only around 1,000 people live there during the winter months. The idea of accents changing due to human interaction on Antarctica is no different to the phenomenon seen throughout history at a glacial pace. However, given the very specific sample size, it’s an opportunity for scientists to study it at a much quicker rate and on a much smaller scale. Experts at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich published a study in 2019 which focused on the change in accents observed in 11 people who took part in the British Antarctic Survey. @human.1011 There’s an Antarctic Accent! #language #linguistics #english #antarctica Of the 11 who were studied, eight came from England, one from the US, one from Germany and one from Iceland. Their voices were recorded every six weeks, and the team found that over time they developed longer vowel sounds. There was a physical change too, with participants pronouncing the “ou” sound in the front of their mouths rather than the back of their throats. Speaking to IFL Science, Jonathan Harrington, study author and Professor of Phonetics and Speech Processing at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich said: "The Antarctic accent is not really perceptible as such – it would take much longer for it to become so – but it is acoustically measurable. "It's mostly an amalgamation of some aspects of the spoken accents of the winterers before they went to Antarctica, together with an innovation. It's far more embryonic [than conventional English accents] given that it had only a short time to develop and also, of course, because it's only distributed across a small group of speakers.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Police investigating deaths of two aspiring models in apartment buildings days apart
Police in Los Angeles are investigating after two aspiring models were found dead in apartment complexes just days apart. One of the deaths has already been ruled a murder, while the second is still under investigation. Police said it was too early to say if the cases are connected, according to ABC News. Maleesa Mooney, 31, was killed on 12 September. Police found her around 3.45pm PST by officers responding to a welfare check at her apartment. That death is being investigated as a homicide, according to the broadcaster, citing an LAPD spokesperson. “The investigation revealed that Maleesa Mooney had been murdered inside of her apartment. Maleesa Mooney’s exact cause of death is unknown, pending a post-mortem examination which will be conducted by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office,” police said in a statement on 15 September. Nichole "Nikki" Coats, 32, was killed on 10 September. Her cause of death is "undetermined" at this point, but a homicide investigation may begin following the LA County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner report. Ms Mooney's family held a rally in LA on Sunday evening demanding justice for the woman's death. The woman's sister, Jourdin Pauline, told an ABC News affiliate that her family became concerned after multiple failed attempts to get in touch with her. "We're supposed to grow old together," Ms Pauline told KABC. "That's not supposed to happen to her." She described her sister as "kind," "genuine," and "loving." "To have someone do what they did to my sister, to that caliber, is sick. It's demented,” she said. The LAPD has asked that anyone with information regarding Ms Mooney's death come forward. Ms Coats' father, Guy Coats, told ABC News that he and his family are "distraught" after learning of her death. He said Ms Coats was an aspiring model who worked as a sale rep in her daytime hours. On 12 September, a cousin who had spent time with Ms Coats told Mr Coats that she couldn't get ahold of the woman. Ms Coats cousin had a key to her apartment and let herself in to see if she was home. She found Ms Coats unresponsive, and said when she touched her she "was like a rock." The cousin then called 911. Ms Coats family became suspicious that foul play led to the woman's death after learning that another aspiring model had been killed just days before, only three miles from her apartment. The family is currently awaiting the coroner's report.
