'Masterdating' is the new trend taking over the internet – but what is it?
It's becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with dating trends taking over the online sphere. We've had ghosting, love-bombing, breadcrumbing and phubbing, along with a host of other widespread terms on social media. But now, there's a less toxic trend singletons can get on board with, and it's called 'masterdating'. Masterdating is essentially dating yourself and is proving rather popular in 2023. It encourages you to treat yourself and take yourself out on solo dates and do all of the things stereotypically associated with having a significant other. In a chat with the New York Post, Amy Nobile, a holistic dating coach, said: "You’re teaching yourself about your own needs, requirements, the things that bring you joy. It’s about uncovering your own passions." Amy went on to encourage people to take advantage of the whole day and make it a frequent occurrence. "Send yourself flowers in the morning, send yourself a sweet note saying, ‘I can’t wait to see you tonight,’ schedule a fancy mode of transportation to get yourself to the date — make it a full day of love," she said. Now, as most of us well know, dating can be draining. But, one company came up with an innovative alternative to dating apps through a worldwide experiment. Earlier this year, the Pear Ring was first announced as a symbol to others that you're single and ready to mingle. "If 1.2 billion singles around the world wore a little green ring on their finger to show they’re single, we wouldn't need dating apps. IRL connection is the mission," the site read. Pear encourages singletons to wear the ring at all times. "In a bar, on a train, at the gym, on vacation, at your friend’s wedding, in a restaurant, walking to work. The world is your playground," they wrote. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Tinder adds Matchmaker feature to let friends recommend potential dates
Tinder adds Matchmaker feature to let friends recommend potential dates
Tinder users can now invite friends to view and suggest potential matches on the dating app as part of a new “matchmaking” feature. Called Matchmaker, the new tool enables a user to give access to their possible matches to up to 15 friends in a 24-hour period, who can view profiles and suggest possible matches even without a Tinder account, but cannot message others on the user’s behalf. Once the Matchmaker session ends, Tinder users will have the opportunity to review the profiles of their matchmakers’ recommendations and then make a final decision on them. The new feature is being rolled out in the UK and a range of other countries in the coming months. The dating app said the feature built on a common usage of the platform, where Tinder users hand over their phone to a friend to matchmake, and bring it directly into the platform. “For years, singles have asked their friends to help find their next match on Tinder, and now we’re making that so easy with Tinder Matchmaker,” Melissa Hobley, Tinder’s chief marketing officer said. “Tinder Matchmaker brings your circle of trust into your dating journey and helps you see the possibilities you might be overlooking from the perspective of those closest to you.” Read More Google and Meta withdraw from upcoming Web Summit ‘Game-changing’ facial recognition technology catches prolific shoplifters Facial recognition firm Clearview AI overturns UK data privacy fine

Assistant coach Eric Ramsay leaves Wales role after six months
Assistant coach Eric Ramsay leaves Wales role after six months
Eric Ramsay has stepped down from his role as Wales assistant coach due to family reasons and work commitments at Manchester United. Ramsay only joined the Wales coaching staff in March, with boss Rob Page welcoming the appointment by saying: “Eric is arguably one of the best young coaches in football at this moment in time.” But the 31-year-old, who hails from mid-Wales and worked at Swansea, Shrewsbury and Chelsea before being appointed as a set-piece coach at United in 2021, lasted just six months in the role in what has been a difficult Euro 2024 qualifying campaign for the Dragons. “The FAW can confirm that Eric Ramsay has stepped down as assistant coach due to personal reasons,” read a statement from the Football Association of Wales. “Family commitments and his current role as first team coach at Manchester United mean that Ramsay will be unable to continue his work with Cymru. “Rob Page and the FAW would like to thank Eric for his work with the team and wish him well for the future.” Ramsay said: “This has been an extremely difficult decision to make but it is the right one for myself and my family after the recent birth of our second child and taking into consideration the intensity of my role at Manchester United. “Having discussed everything with my family, Rob and the association, we came to the conclusion that it was best to depart my role before the upcoming internationals so that the group can fully concentrate on the fixtures. “I’m extremely thankful to everyone at FA Wales; the experiences throughout the last six months have been amongst the proudest moments of my career to date. “It was a real pleasure to work with this group of players and I wish everyone nothing but success going forward.” Sheffield United first-team coach Jack Lester has replaced Ramsey and joined the Wales camp ahead of their two September games. Wales host South Korea in a Cardiff friendly on Thursday before travelling to Latvia for a crunch Euro 2024 qualifier next Monday. Page’s side have an uphill task to qualify automatically for the European Championship finals in Germany next summer after taking only four points from as many games. Wales are currently fourth in Group D ahead of meeting bottom team Latvia in Riga. DJ Crazy Times just crashed a Jonas Brothers concert to play 'Planet Of The Bass'
DJ Crazy Times' 'Planet Of The Bass' has taken over the internet...and now it's making its way into the mainstream too. While the Jonas Brothers were performing in Boston, comedian Kyle Gordon stormed the stage to perform the hit track during an intermission mid-show. Apparently Joe Jonas, whose birthday it was that day, is a huge fan of the song, and the announcer dubbed it a 'treat' for him. However, few fans in the crowd knew what was going on as the arena transformed into a 90s Eurodance club. Sign up to our new free Indy100 weekly newsletter
