Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz demoted after Austrian Grand Prix penalty chaos
Lewis Hamilton is among the drivers who have been demoted in position for the Austrian Grand Prix after a raft of time penalties were added some five hours after the chequered flag. Max Verstappen comfortably won his fifth race in a row, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc coming home second and Sergio Perez finishing third. While the podium remained unchanged, Sainz was given a 10-second time penalty – dropping him from fourth to sixth – while Hamilton was given the same punishment, shifting him down a place to P8. McLaren’s Lando Norris subsequently moves up to fourth and Fernando Alonso up a spot to fifth. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly also had 10 seconds added on to his final time, dropping him down to 10th from ninth, swapping spots with Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll. Esteban Ocon was given an astonishing 30-second time penalty post-race, with the Williams pairing of Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant given 10-second punishments. Finally, the AlphaTauri duo of Nyck de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda were punished with 15 and five seconds respectively. FINAL AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX RACE CLASSIFICATION 1. Max Verstappen 2. Nico Hulkenberg It marked a chaotic and befuddling end to a weekend where nearly every driver was warned and punished for exceeding track limits, particularly at turns 9 and 10. In Sunday’s race, there were a vast total of 83 lap times deleted throughout the 71-lap grand prix. An Aston Martin appeal triggered the raft of penalties and positional changes. The FIA noted in their final assessment: "The Stewards very strongly recommend that a solution be found to the track limits situation at this circuit.” A gravel trap on the outside of the final corner – turn 10 – was recommended by the race director last year and now looks a likely addition at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. The track and event signed a new deal with F1 on Sunday, extending their partnership until 2030. New footage emerges of 'rude' Jack Antonoff interview with Amelia Dimoldenberg
Musician Jack Antonoff is facing backlash after fans called him "rude" towards comedian Amelia Dimoldenberg during an interview at the 2023 GQ Man of the Year Awards. Dimoldenberg, best known for her interview series Chicken Shop Date's and her awkward interview style, was chatting to Antonoff - best known for his collaborations with artists such as Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey - on the red carpet, saying it was "nice to meet him", whilst Antonoff appeared to ignore her and look at the crowd. Things only got worse when Dimoldenberg asked the songwriter if his glasses were "real." "Of course they are real," he replied. "That's extremely f**king offensive." Dimodlenberg chuckled at his comment, before Antonoff said, slightly chuckling himself, "That's like asking, 'Are you a piece of s**t? Are you a piece of s**t?" The whole time Antonoff seems to be avoiding Dimoldenberg's gaze. @pagesix Jack Antonoff is facing backlash for being “rude” to comedian Amelia Dimoldenberg during an interview at the 2023 GQ Man of the Year Awards. More details at the link in our bio. On social media, many branded the musician "rude". "What was his problem?" Asked one viewer under a TikTok of the interview. "At first I thought it was just banter but at the end he was rude." Wrote another. However, some said he was just trying to match Dimoldenberg's interview style and it just didn't land great. GQ have since released another clip of the pair's interview that is a lot less awkward. With Antonoff laughing and having a discussion with Dimoldenberg. @britishgq "More people are dead than alive." Amelia Dimoldenberg quizzes Jack Antonoff over traffic, collaborating with a dead artist and the British sense of humour at #GQMOTY. #GQMOTYxBOSS #JackAntonoff The new clip made fans quick to forgive Antonoff, blaming the original backlash on bad editing. "No because I'm kind of convinced with that first clip someone just has it out for him because this is a whole different vibe now", one commenter wrote. So it seems Antonoff is off the hook for now. Chris Christie news – live: Ex-governor calls Trump ‘spoiled baby’ after mockery about his weight
Chris Christie is punching back at Donald Trump after the former president responded to his campaign announcement with a juvenile video edit making fun of Mr Christie’s weight. The former New Jersey governor appeared on CNN on Wednesday after launching his campaign with a town hall event at St Anselm College a night earlier in Manchester, New Hampshire. “It’s so juvenile. He is such a spoiled baby,” Mr Christie said. This is the second time Mr Christie has made a bid for the White House, the first being in 2016 when he lost to former president Donald Trump. Though Mr Christie lent his support to Mr Trump in 2016 when he dropped out of the race, he has since changed his opinion of the former president and become a vocal critic. That was evident on Tuesday, as he denounced his former ally as a corrupt narcissist and vowed to draw blood in his quest for the Republican nomination. He did so several times during the town hall event, notably by tearing into the former president’s family for “breathtaking” levels of corruption and “grift”, which he said had followed them through the White House and beyond.
