Sam Kerr says she would "love" to wear the ‘OneLove’ armband during Australia’s 2023 Women’s World Cup campaign but will not "put the team at risk" by doing so. The armband was at the centre of a row that was a major talking point during the early stages of the men’s competition in Qatar last year. And on Friday it was confirmed that, as at that tournament, players will not be allowed to wear it in matches at the women’s showpiece in Australia and New Zealand this summer, with FIFA unveiling a range of other, approved bands which can highlight social issues and causes. Speaking at a press conference on Monday as Australia’s 23-player World Cup squad was announced, Matildas skipper and Chelsea striker Kerr said: "The men’s World Cup, the women’s World Cup... being honest I kind of expected it, I didn’t expect them to change it (the rule). "Obviously we would love to wear it - like most of the teams in the whole world, everyone has voiced that they would love to wear it. "But I think you saw with the men’s World Cup, (England captain) Harry Kane for example, first game, if he had worn it, yellow card, if he’d got a yellow card in the game, he would’ve been sent off. "So for me it’s not worth the risk of putting the team at risk, of putting the tournament at risk, putting everything at risk. "There will be multiple opportunities where we get to use our voice, and there will be multiple opportunities where I get to use my voice for things. "We would have liked to have worn it but I’m not going to put this team at risk, the tournament at risk, and we have to abide by the rules that we’re given really." At the Qatar World Cup, captains of the nations involved in the ‘OneLove’ campaign, including England and Wales, were threatened with sporting sanctions starting at a yellow card if the bands were worn because they would have been a breach of FIFA equipment regulations. The forthcoming tournament gets under way on July 20, with Australia opening their Group B campaign that day against the Republic of Ireland in Sydney. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz beat Max Verstappen to top spot in final practice for the Italian Grand Prix. Sainz’s lap in the closing moments of the one-hour running in Monza drew a huge roar from the tifosi, providing the Ferrari faithful with hope a scarlet car might secure pole position at the team’s home event. Sainz, who was also quickest in Friday’s second running, saw off Verstappen by 0.086 seconds. Lewis Hamilton finished third for Mercedes. Charles Leclerc made a mistake on his speediest lap and had to settle for fourth, half-a-second slower than team-mate Sainz. Verstappen is bidding to become the first driver to win 10 consecutive races, but Ferrari appear to have a car capable of denying the Dutchman pole. For Hamilton, the seven-time world champion will be pleased to be back at the sharp end of the pack after he finished 17th in practice on Friday. However, the British driver was still 0.541 seconds back from Sainz, with team-mate George Russell sixth. During a Republican-led oversight committee hearing regarding IRS whistleblowers connected to a probe into President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, Marjorie Taylor Greene showed explicit photos of the president’s son on posters. The Georgia Republican held up a series of posters with images of Hunter Biden naked and photos of him engaging in sexual acts at the Congressional hearing on Wednesday. “Marjorie Taylor Greene is literally showing dick pics at our Oversight Hearing,” California congressman Robert Garcia tweeted. “Marjorie Taylor Greene is currently brandishing Hunter Biden nudes during a House hearing. I’m not going to post it. Disgusting,” journalist Aaron Rupar tweeted, adding: “Your taxpayer dollars paid for Marjorie Taylor Greene to print Hunter Biden nudes on poster board so she could pull this stunt during a House hearing.” The Lincoln Project tweeted: “The GOP is getting teachers fired for teaching sex ed while the GOP shows porn on the House floor.” Florida Republican Byron Donalds came to her defence: “According to @RepRaskin & @danielsgoldman, the explicit images of Hunter Biden presented by @RepMTG are TOO RACY for the Oversight Committee & demanded they go away. She then asked the witness: “I would like to point out that if he was purchasing a plane ticket for her for sex and traveling across state lines, do you believe that to be a violation of the Mann Act?” The Mann Act, a federal law, makes it illegal to transport “any woman or girl for the purpose of prostitution or debauchery, or for any other immoral purpose.” The witness didn’t fully answer the question when the Georgia congresswoman held up another explicit photo, saying “Hunter Biden paid for this woman to do this with him.” The House panel’s top Democrat Jamie Raskin at one point interjected: “Should we be displaying this in the committee?” New York Democratic Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also called out the Georgia Republican’s moves, seeming to point out similarities between claims against Hunter Biden and Florida Rep Matt Gaetz: “If the gentlelady from Georgia wanted to follow evidence, we should also take a look at, hypothetically ... sex trafficking charges against a 17-year-old girl…” Prosecutors investigated whether Mr Gaetz may have been involved in a scheme to traffic a 17-year-old girl.
