Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington time: When does fight start in UK and US this weekend?
Fans will expect fireworks when Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington meet in a featherweight title fight this weekend. The British pair will clash in a main-event contest in Sheffield, where Wood puts his WBA belt on the line. The fight marks the first defence of the Nottingham boxer’s second title reign, after he lost then regained the title in back-to-back duels with Mauricio Lara this spring. Wood, 35, was stopped by the Mexican in February but outpointed Lara three months later. Warrington also has recent history with Lara, having suffered a TKO loss to him in 2021 before the pair drew their rematch later that year, when a clash of heads derailed the bout. Warrington, 32, bounced back from those results by stopping old rival Kiko Martinez last March, but he was beaten by Luis Alberto Lopez in December. Those fights marked the start and end of the Leeds boxer’s second reign as IBF featherweight champion. Here’s all you need to know about Saturday’s main event. Loch Ness Monster 'footage captured' by unsuspecting camper
The Loch Ness Monster has eluded people for decades – but one man thinks his drone has caught a glimpse of the legendary beast completely by accident. The clip was filmed by Richard Mavor, who runs the adventure-based YouTube channel Richard Outdoors, and shows an aerial shot of a beach around the loch. In it, some viewers claim they can make out the outline of a mysterious reptile-like animal beneath the surface. Fifty-four-year-old Mavor only realised what he’d found after rewatching the video he had taken on his 4k drone. Skip to 3:52 in the video above to make your own mind up. The video has re-emerged as volunteers kick off the biggest hunt for Nessie in fifty years. Speaking to the Daily Record he said: “I couldn’t believe it”. “I had to rewind the footage several times and have watched it several times since. I don't know what it is but it certainly has the same shape as previous sightings of Nessie. “The more I watch it I think ‘crikey! There really wasn’t anything in the area that could be’. “There was no driftwood or anything like that so who knows.” He continued: “We had just parked up and I thought I would get some nice shots on the beach for my YouTube. “I didn’t notice what I had picked up until others told me to watch out for it. “It could be a trick of the light but we can’t be sure.” The Loch Ness Monster was first reportedly spotted in April 1933, when hotel manager Aldie Mackay said she had seen a whale-like creature in the loch. The Inverness Courier newspaper reported the sighting and the editor at the time, Evan Barron, suggested the creature be described as a “monster”. Since then the mystery of Nessie has inspired books, TV shows and films, as well as sustained a major tourism industry. This weekend, more than 100 volunteers helped record sights on Loch Ness from vantage points on land using cameras. Almost 300 people signed up to monitor a live stream from the search. However, it seems nothing conclusive was found. Mavor, meanwhile, posted the video to YouTube last year, and has accumulated 14,000 views. Advertisers ‘won’t take risk’ of returning to X after Elon Musk’s expletive-filled rant
Advertisers are refusing to return to X – formerly Twitter – after the platform’s owner Elon Musk told them to “go f*** yourselves” if they try to pull their marketing from the microblogging site. After Mr Musk was accused of antisemitism last month, a number of the world’s biggest companies and X’s biggest advertisers, including Apple and IBM, pulled their marketing from the platform. While the Tesla chief initially said he was “sorry” and denied any suggestion he was antisemitic, he later added that advertisers who withdrew their marketing from X because of his tweet should “go f*** yourselves”. “If someone is going to try to blackmail me with advertising, blackmail me with money? Go f*** yourself. Go f*** yourself. Is that clear? I hope it is,” Mr Musk said at the New York Times’ Dealbook Summit. “The whole world will know that those advertisers killed the company and we’ll document it in great detail,” he added. Now, a number of marketing agencies say the brands they represent are firmly against returning to advertising on X. “Thank you Elon Musk, for making it very clear how seriously you take advertisers concerns... Advertisers, judge for yourselves if this is a man who you can do business with,” Lou Paskalis, the founder and chief of the marketing consultancy AJL Advisory, posted on X. “There is no advertising value that would offset the reputational risk of going back on the platform,” Mr Paskalis told NYT. Advertisers are unlikely to step in to support X, said Ruben Schreurs, the chief strategy officer at marketing firm Ebiquity. The row began last month after Mr Musk endorsed a post claiming that Jewish people “have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them” as the “actual truth”. In response, a number of top companies, including Apple, Disney and Coca Cola, have since removed paid ads from X – moves that could slash the company’s revenue by millions of dollars. Watchdog Media Matters also published a report alleging that ads on X were being placed next to posts supporing Nazism, in response to which the social media company filed a defamation claim against the group. Mr Musk’s rank at the Dealbook Summit came come on Wednesday. “I will certainly not pander,” the multibillionaire said. He even took a direct jab at Disney chief Bob Iger who had earlier explained why the entertainment company had pulled advertising from X. Just hours after Mr Musk’s expletive-laden comment on Wednesday, X chief Linda Yaccarino attempted to soften the damage, sharing the owner’s apology on the platform and appealing to advertisers to return. “Here’s my perspective when it comes to advertising: X is standing at a unique and amazing intersection of Free Speech and Main Street — and the X community is powerful and here to welcome you,” Ms Yaccarino said. “Businesses are simply full of people, and people like to be treated well, respected and dealt with with dignity,” Steve Boehler, founder of marketing management consultancy Mercer Island Group, told NYT.
