Over its history, social media has provided us with some truly legendary content that will live long in the memory. Today is the 11 year anniversary of one such tweet, in which British actor Danny Dyer called the 9/11 attackers “slags”. The horrifying attacks on 11 Septemer 2001 claimed the lives of 2,977 victims when 19 terrorists hijacked and crashed four planes in a co-ordinated attack on the United States. The events shocked the world and the disbelief at what actually occurred has continued for years following. 11 years after the attacks in 2012, Dyer took to Twitter to express just that, writing in typical Cockney fashion: “Can’t believe it’s been nearly 11 years since them slags smashed into the twin towers it still freaks my nut out to this day.” At the time, Dyer deleted the tweet shortly after posting it, but not before several screenshots saw it go down in internet history. “Can’t believe it’s been 11 years since Danny Dyer’s brilliant 9/11 tweet,” one person wrote. Some pointed out that we have reached the point where the tweet sent by Danny Dyer is as far away from us as it was after the events of 9/11. Grimes shared the anecdote to Walter Isaacson for his upcoming biography on the world's richest person — an excerpt of which was published by the Wall Street Journal. She said he flew to Vancouver to meet her parents but then stayed in the hotel because he was in "stress mode" and played the fantasy game Elden Ring on a laptop he had with him. "Instead of sleeping, he played until 5:30 in the morning," Grimes told Isaacson. Since purchasing Twitter last year, Musk has brought in a number of changes including making users pay for their verifying blue ticks and changing the name and logo to X. It seems more changes are afoot, and he recently announced the possibility of video and audio calls on the social media platform. Eddie Howe has admitted Newcastle will probably need to beat both Paris St Germain and AC Milan to keep their Champions League dream alive. The Magpies went down 2-0 at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening as the Germans completed back-to-back Group F victories over the Premier League side. They will head for Paris later this month having banked just four points from their first four fixtures and knowing anything less than three at the Parc des Princes could prove fatal with Milan due at St James’ Park in December. Asked if they now needed to return from France with at least a point, Howe said: “Yes. It’s difficult to tell at this stage, but we are probably going to have to win our last two games.” Howe was left to reflect on what might have been after a difficult night at Signal Iduna Park as the team he had fashioned from the remnants of his injury-hit squad failed to live up to his expectations. His decision to start 19-year-old full-back Lewis Hall suffered an early setback when he picked up a ninth-minute booking which ultimately prompted his half-time withdrawal in a bid to avoid a second caution, and the Magpies improved, but not enough to make a difference.
