Kanye West criticised for dressing kids in 'Handmaid's Tale'-style robes for Sunday Service
Kanye West has been criticised for making some pretty dystopian wardrobe choices for his latest Sunday Service outing with his family and new wife. The congregation at West’s gospel group service included some of the rapper's own kids, who headed to the ceremony in billowing white robes and face masks. Images of the group immediately invited comments on social media, likening the anachronistic outfits to something out of 'The Handmaid's' tale. But, the children in the congregation were far from the only attendees to draw attention due to their unusual outfits. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter West and his wife Bianca Censori were also captured wearing some highly unconventional clothing. Censori could be seen dressed head to toe in what could be described as one large pare of tights covering her whole body. Meanwhile, West himself was seen sporting a pair of black leggings along with a heavily padded-out black t-shirt with the word “Polizei” (the German word for police) on it. West started his Sunday Service gospel group in 2019 and his four children, whom he shares with reality star Kim Kardashian, are fairly frequent attendees. On social media, users shared their thoughts on the rapper and his wife’s unusual clothing. Someone wrote: “Just free her... What cult it this?” Another said: “Kanye West being just Kanye West.” In the most recent episode of her Hulu reality show, Kardashian opened up about what it was like to be married to West, particularly as he struggled with his mental health, being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016. Kardashian explained: “I used to run around and call everyone behind his back and be like, ‘It's gonna be okay, don't worry, just give him another chance.’ I used to spend hours and hours and hours of my days as the clean-up crew.” She added: “It's the hardest feeling to watch someone you really loved, and you have a family with be so different than what you knew.” Have your say in our news democracy. NFL great Tom Brady greets fans at pub before watching dramatic Birmingham win
NFL great Tom Brady watched on as Birmingham grabbed a late win against Leeds after Lukas Jutkiewicz converted from the spot at St Andrew's. The game had been heading for a draw, before Jutkiewicz’s penalty in the first minute of stoppage time. Before the game, Brady made an appearance at The Roost, a pub near St. Andrew's stadium, before Blues’ game against Leeds in the second-tier Championship on Saturday. A few hours earlier, Brady posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Any plans before kick off guys? See you at St. Andrew’s.” He later went to the stadium, where he was pictured meeting mascots and signing jerseys. The seven-time Super Bowl champion has partnered with the club’s holding company, U.S.-based Knighthead Capital Management, and become chairman of a new advisory board. Birmingham said Brady will “apply his extensive leadership experience and expertise across several components of the club.” That includes working alongside the sports science department to advise on health, nutrition and recovery programs. Brady won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and another with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. He retired in February, after Tampa’s loss in the playoffs. Carlee Russell sent several bizarre tweets before fake ‘disappearance’
Before 25-year-old Carlee Russell went missing for a mysterious 49 hours – a disappearance, she admitted on Monday, that was staged – she posted a series of bizarre tweets. On the day she went “missing” on 13 July, she tweeted at 8.55pm: “today was a GREAT day God be looking out im telling you!!” One minute later, Ms Russell wrote: “someone to tell you ‘i love you’ and don’t got a reason.” Finally, she tweeted, “yeah i want a family now” at 9.19pm. Just moments later, around 9.30pm, the Alabama woman called 911 and told detectives that she was following a lost toddler along the interstate. After she returned home, Ms Russell claimed was abducted by a man with “orange hair,” before escaping. She later turned up on foot at her parent’s home with $107 tucked in her right sock, and alleged she had barely survived the encounter. Her tweets, in combination with her search history prior to her vanishing, raised doubts about the Alabama woman’s story. Police revealed that Ms Russell’s internet search history gave hints she could have staged her own kidnapping, as she looked up Amber Alerts, the movie Taken, booking a bus ticket from Birmingham to Nashville and “how to take money from a register without being caught.” A tweet on 10 July adds colour to this complicated picture, and indicates potential problems in her relationship. Ms Russell wrote, “I always say one thing i WONT do is stay with someone who cheated on me like you went and had sex with someone else and think it’ll be sweet one day?? hellll no.” Days earlier, she also tweeted: “everyone wants to feel wanted.” Her boyfriend, Thomar Latrell Simmons, had posted on Facebook upon Ms Russell’s miraculous return, and supported her story that she had been abducted. She had been “fighting for her life for 48 hours,” he wrote, but has since taken down the post. Two days earlier, her tweet revealed she may have been unhappy at work: “my job is really starting to get on my dang nerves.” She worked at Woodhouse Spa, the owner of which said on Thursday that he provided the police with “everything we uncovered.” According to the New York Post, Ms Russell tweeted on 19 July, “I’m thankful I know how to identify when the enemy coming for me now, makes life a lot easier.” But the post has been taken down. Police began expressing their doubts last week, saying Wednesday they were “unable to verify” most of Ms Russell’s claims regarding the events leading up to and during her disappearance.
