Flashing ‘X’ sign removed from Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco
A brightly flashing “X” sign has been removed from the San Francisco headquarters of the company formerly known as Twitter, days after it was installed. The San Francisco Department of Building Inspection said Monday it received 24 complaints about the unpermitted structure over the weekend. It was first erected on Friday 28 July. “As you can see, they took down the X,” social media user @darren_stallcup wrote, sharing a video of the building which no longer features the sign. Elon Musk’s company also removed the Twitter wording and iconic blue bird logo from the building last week. Katie Taylor’s rematch with Chantelle Cameron made official as Irish icon eyes revenge
Katie Taylor’s rematch with Chantelle Cameron made official as Irish icon eyes revenge
Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron will return to Dubin’s 3Arena for a rematch in November, six months after Cameron retained her super-lightweight titles against the Irish icon. Cameron beat Taylor via majority decision at the 3Arena in May, remaining undisputed champion and handing the 37-year-old her first professional loss in the process. Now Taylor, who is undisputed at lightweight, will get another shot at Cameron’s belts, when the pair square off on 25 November. “I’m delighted the rematch has been made,” said Taylor, “and I really can’t wait for another huge night in November. I relish challenges like this. These are the occasions I live for.” Meanwhile, England’s Cameron said: “Last time out I pulled off one of the best ever away wins against the best female fighter on the planet. To go over to Ireland for her homecoming, with my belts on the line, and beat her was a brilliant experience – but beating her on 25 November will surpass that. “I’ve boxed at that high level with a huge amount of pressure on me and the crowd against me,” added the unbeaten Cameron, 32. “I’m going to go in there with more aggression and energy, and I’m confident of getting the job done in better fashion. I’m going to be a lot better in the rematch. “I said it last time: I think I’m all wrong for Katie. I’m too big, I’m too strong, and my will to win is too strong. I’m going to be there all night long.” Click here to subscribe to The Independent’s Sport YouTube channel for all the latest sports videos. Trump must be supervised by lawyer when reviewing evidence against him, judge says
Trump must be supervised by lawyer when reviewing evidence against him, judge says
Former president Donald Trump will be barred from viewing the evidence the Department of Justice has collected against him except when in the presence of his attorneys, according to a new order by one of the judges overseeing the criminal case against him. In a four-page order signed on Monday, Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart granted a prosecution request for a protective order meant to shield the information that must be disclosed to Mr Trump about the case against him from public view. It covers “non-classified discovery produced by the United States to the Defendants in preparation for, or in connection with, any stage” of the case that began when a Florida grand jury indicted the ex-president on 37 separate counts of violating the federal criminal code earlier this month, and requires that those materials can only be used “in connection with the defense of this case, and for no other purpose, and in connection with no other proceeding”. Magistrate Judge Reinhart also ordered that the discovery materials be kept only by Mr Trump’s legal team and stored securely on premises controlled by them. He further specified that Mr Trump (and his co-defendant Walt Nauta) “shall only have access to Discovery Materials under the direct supervision of Defense Counsel or a member of Defense Counsel’s staff,” and prohibited either of them from retaining copies of the materials themselves or taking any notes with them after viewing any of the materials. The protective order and the restrictions it places upon Mr Trump are meant in part to prevent him from directing his followers to harass any witnesses against him or any FBI or DOJ personnel involved in the case. After FBI agents searched his Palm Beach, Florida property on 8 August last year, the former president’s camp leaked an unredacted copy of a property receipt provided to his counsel at the time of the search to right-wing Breitbart News. The document named multiple FBI agents involved in the search of his property, and in subsequent court filings the government disclosed that those agents had been targeted for harassment by Mr Trump’s supporters.
