Despite no evidence backing up their claims, Flat Earthers are adamant that they are correct when it comes to the shape of our Earth. Even when their own evidence disproves them, it seems. Back in 2020, a couple from Venice tried to prove the world was flat by setting sail to the edge of the world, which they believed was somewhere near Sicily, after a planned Flat Earthed cruise to Antartica was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The couple violated the lockdown restrictions in place at the time of their travels, selling their car in order to buy a boat. Using a compass, a device that works because the Earth is round, the pair set off in their boat to reach Lampedusa. However, it was not long until they found themselves lost, tired, and on the island of Ustica instead. Salvatore Zichichi of the Maritime Health Office of the Ministry of Health told Italian newspaper La Stampa: "For them, Lampedusa [an island of the Italian Pelagie Islands in the Mediterranean Sea] was the end of the Earth." "The funny thing is that they orient themselves with the compass, an instrument that works on the bass of terrestrial magnetism. A principle that they, as Flat Earthers, should reject." They were placed in quarantine by health officials due to the ongoing pandemic at the time, but the couple escaped and sailed away in pursuit of the edge of Earth. Three hours later, they were caught. The pair tried to escape one more time but failed, and abandoned their plan, taking a ferry back to mainland Italy once their time in quarantine was fulfilled. Apple is changing the port in the bottom of the iPhone. After more than a decade of the “Lightning” port being used in everything from the iPad to the iPhone, it will switch to USB-C with the introduction of the new iPhone 15 and 15 Pro. Apple noted that the new plug would bring benefits when charging, transferring data, as well as working with audio and video. And it said that the same cable can be used to charge other Apple devices that have already switched to USB-C: the Mac and iPad. It will also release a new case for the AirPods Pro that will also drop the Lightning plug. With the new port, the new iPhone 15 and 15 Pro will be able to charge up the AirPods Pro and Apple Watch themselves, Apple said. Plugging a USB-C cable between the phone and other devices can allow power to come out of it as well as in. At least four people have been arrested after footage of a wild brawl in Montgomery, Alabama, went viral across social media. "There’s a possibility more will follow after the review of additional video," the police told The Independent. The incident occurred on August 5 near Montgomery Riverfront Park and was captured by several witnesses before being broken up by Alabama police. The alleged turn of events saw two men having an argument with a Black dock worker. Things soon escalated before many more people jumped in to seemingly defend the man. In one piece of footage, one woman claimed: "These white people jumped this black security guard at the Riverfront. The staff got off the boat and it turned into WWE Smackdown. I’m so proud of Montgomery." Another person shared a different angle of the brawl, writing: "I HATE when people jump people a majority of the time, & even more so when you want to fight or jump someone for doing their job. As our police department investigates these intolerable actions, we should not become desensitized to violence of any kind in our community.
